2 Ferrite Ring Wire Coil UV Radiation Visible Light The illumination principle of the induction lamp relies basically on electromagnetic induction and gaseous discharge. It is composed of 3 parts: the electronic ballast, the magnetic rings and the lamp tube. The electrical current from the ballast is transformed into high-frequency as it passes through the magnetic rings. The high-frequency wave then hits the phosphor coated lamp walls, thus making the lamp light up. Since these lamps are free of filaments, their lifespan is extended to 100,000 hours- a hundred times the usual lifespan of incandescent lights, 5~15 times that of HID lamps, and 5~10 times that of CF lamps.
