2 Lost Socks PnP Component List Something to represent First Player Token 30 cubes/markers for Dirt 3 Dice of different Colors (for Laundry and Trading Dice) Opaque bag to draw socks out of Spinner Construction See Last Page of Document for visual guide. The Lost Socks The Lost Socks is a set collection game about the stylish world of socks! Players take turns purchasing, trading, storing, and laundering their collection of unique and stylish socks. Wearing socks earns style points based on the set type, current season, and cleanliness. Heading to the laundromat is a must, but be careful washing your favorite pairs, for some strange reason socks sometimes go missing! What s in the Box 1 st Player Token 5 Player Mats 80 Sock Tiles (Four Seasons, 4 rare sock sets) Sock Drawing bag 30 Dirt Smudges 12 Soap Tokens Market Board Seasons/Market Spinner Seasons/Round Deck Laundromat Board 3 Dice (2 Laundry Dice, 1 Trading Earnings Die) Setup Each player receives one playmat and 6 coins to start. Then, each player randomly draws four socks from the sock bag. Each player starts wearing two of the socks drawn and places the other two socks in any available space in their drawer. Designate a place for the Spinner, Market Board, and Laundromat Boards. Designate the first round by randomly choosing a card from the Seasons/Round Deck, then ordering the deck according to the normal progression of rounds and seasons. (For example, if you choose to be your starting season, then order the deck: Round 1, Round 2, Round 1 and so on ending with Round 2.) As you progress throughout the game, this will serve as a visual guide of the current round and season in addition to the spinner, which will determine the Market costs. VERSION 3/28/2018
3 Place the laundromat dice on the laundromat playmat. Fill the market by randomly drawing socks based on the number of players (see Market Board) out of the bag and placing them in rows of five across each cost row. Fill all spaces of the Soap Market. Place the sock bag nearby all players. *Soap is a limited resource. All soap available on the mat is all that is available for everyone. Play Order The player to go first is the player with the most colorful socks on. Players have following actions to perform on their turn in any order. 1. Buy from to Sock Market/Trading You can buy as many socks from either the Sock Market or the Sock Swap as you have gold coins. The price of socks in the Sock Market is listed on the Season Spinner and is based on the current season (socks that are in-season are more expensive thank socks well out of season). Additionally, any rare sock costs 1 additional gold coin when purchasing. The Sock Market does not replenish until the end of the season. Socks in the Sock Swap are always 1 Gold Coin, in addition to these modifiers: - +1 Gold Coin if the sock is rare - +1 Gold Coin if the sock is in-season You can only buy socks if there is an empty space in your drawer. You may also buy soap tokens during this phase, there are slots provided under your laundry basket for convenient storage. 2. Sell to the Sock Swap You can sell as many socks as you want to the Sock Swap. The price you get back for socks is determined by the green market die (D6: 1-4 = 1 Gold Coin, 5-6 = 2 Gold Coins) plus the following modifiers: - +1 Gold Coin if the sock is rare - +1 Gold Coin if the sock is in-season NOTE: You cannot sell socks that you purchased or received in the same turn. NOTE: You cannot sell dirty socks. All newly sold socks are placed at the end of the Sock Swap row after all existing socks have been pushed to the leftmost empty space. If there is no space available on the track, then all socks move to the left and the oldest sock (first on the left) goes back into the sock bag. Place the sold sock on the newly empty space on the righthand side of the line. 3. Grab Bag: Blind Purchase from the Sock Bag Twice per turn you can pay 1 Gold Coin to pick a sock randomly from the bag. You can only buy socks if there is an empty space in your drawer. VERSION 3/28/2018
4 4. Wear/Change Socks Place a pair of socks on your feet. You must have socks on your feet at the end of your turn. This is how you will score points. End of Round At the end of the round, all players will score style points for the socks currently on their feet. See Scoring Sheet for how to score. After scoring, players will add a dirt speck to each sock on their feet per turn the socks are worn. A maximum of 2 dirt specks per sock can be accumulated on socks you are currently wearing. After you have accumulated 2 dirt specks, if you are required to add more, the socks must be removed and placed in your drawer after adding the third spec. If you do not have room in your drawer you must discard enough clean socks to make room. After all dirt specks are placed, all players must declare whether they are going to the Laundromat as well as which socks they wish to clean. Socks on your feet are eligible to go to the laundromat. All players place their declared socks into their laundry basket mat along with the dirt specks on them. Then the Laundry Phase begins. Laundry Phase Starting with the current first player, they will pay 1 Gold Coin for every roll of the White Laundry Die they make. If 1-4, then one dirt speck is cleaned. You can then use any soap that was purchased to clean one additional spec of all declared socks. You can apply as many soap tokens as you own to a single dice roll. If 5, then you mistakenly placed the dirty sock in the dryer first and the roll has no effect. If 6, the sock has gone missing. Roll the Red Laundry Die. If 1-3, sock is lost to the ether. Place the lost sock back in the bag and place dirt specks back in central pile. If 4, sock is stolen, clean, by the player to your left who must also be at the laundromat. If 5, do the same to the player on your right (again, they must be at the laundromat). If there are no other players to pass the sock to, the sock returns to the bag. If 6, the sock was found and clean! Place the clean sock in your drawer or on your feet. NOTE: Players who have stolen socks but do not have room in their drawer/feet can choose to discard a CLEAN sock to replace or discard the newly stolen sock. NOTE: All players who go to the laundromat must make at least one roll of the White Laundry die. Once all players have completed their rolls, draw the next card on the Seasons/Round deck and pass the First Player token to the player on their right and play resumes with the Market phase. VERSION 3/28/2018
5 End of Season Each season has two rounds. At the of the 2 nd round of a season, perform end of season scoring and turn the wheel counter-clockwise to the next season so that the new seasons market price is now 4. Replenish the Sock Market by filling all empty spaces with new sock tiles from the bag. Give all players 6 coins (except for last season). End of Game At the end of 4 seasons, perform final scoring after the laundry phase, including end of game bonus points. Player with the most points wins! If there is a tie, player with the most money wins. If still a tie, player with most complete sets wins. If yet, still a tie, person (real life, not character) wearing the coolest socks wins. VERSION 3/28/2018
