1 Welcome to something special, a real puzzling treat! Suguru is a fresh new logic puzzle like no other. Relatively unknown in the puzzling world, Suguru is a pure logical challenge that is immensely satisfying to solve. Puzzles come in a range of levels of difficulty and can, at their hardest, test the most experienced of solvers. The instructions are simple. Fill the grid so that each cell contains a digit. A bold outlined cluster of two cells contains the digits and, a cluster of three cells contains the digits, and, and so on. No same digit appears in any neighbouring cell, not even diagonally. We, at Puzzler, first came across Suguru back in 0. It is one of many fine puzzles from Naoki Inaba, a talented Japanese puzzle compiler. Suguru instantly caught the attention of our editorial team; a pure pleasure to solve, it became an exciting new addition to some of our top magazines Pocket Puzzler, Puzzler Sudoku and Beyond Sudoku. Our readers welcomed the puzzle and told us they d like to see more; some even cheekily suggested we create a whole magazine of them well, we didn t want to disappoint them. So here it is. In this magazine you will find 0 Suguru of all shapes and sizes. While you might notice that puzzles tend to get harder as you progress through these Suguru, there are no absolutes here difficulty is in the luck of the grids and the eye of the solver so be prepared for surprises along the way! There are also four other great logic puzzles for you to try here: Sign In, a Latin square style puzzle created by Trevor Truran; Loopy, a path-finding puzzle invented by Philipp Hübner; Stars, which is similar in style to Suguru but quite a different solving experience; and the familiar Japanese logic puzzle, Shikaku (otherwise known as Cell Blocks). 2 PUZZLE INSTRUCTIONS Loopy Form a single loop, through all available cells, that connects all the given pieces. The path can move directly through a cell, or turn to the left or the right. Each cell must be visited only once. Stars Each row, column and inner region must contain two stars. Star cells cannot touch, even diagonally. Shikaku Divide the whole grid into blocks that are either square or rectangular. Each block must frame a single number, and each block must contain the same amount of cells as the number it frames Sign In Each row and column must contain all the digits -9. The given signs tell you if a digit in a certain cell is plus (+) or minus ( ) of the digit next to it. Signs between consecutive digits always work from left to right, or top to bottom*.
