1 State Natural History Survey Division = = ~ = w-mm--- =--~z=~~s~-= -==------tt~ ---n--.-= River Research Laboratory Box 599 Havana. II / Glen c. Kruse Illinois Department of Conservation Endangered Species Project Manager 524 S. Second St. Springfield, IL 6276 Dear Glen: 2 January 988 Illinois Department of Energy and Natural Resources Enclosed is the 988 data for the NWF Midwinter Bald Eagle Survey. We filled out the forms that you forwarded to us. The "Time at start" is missing on some forms but those could be estimated from the times at other areas if necessary. Also the "Vegetation Type" and "Prey Types" are the same as we stated in the 986 and 987 reports if you need that information. I recommend adding those two items permanently to the forms unless there will be changes in the locations per form. You might also consider changing Pekin Lake, Powerton Lake, Spring Lake and Banner Marsh from the Chautauqua NWR - Cameron Division form to the Chautauqua NWR form. Seems to me that these locations are closer to Chautauqua than Cameron. In addition to the numbers presented on the forms provided, we censused the following areas, some of which are in Illinois. No. of Eagles LOCATION ADULT IMMATURE TOTAL 4 January 988 Hager Slough MO Marais Temp MO Dardenne MO Cuivre MO Cannon Refuge MO Andalusia Refuge IL Louisa Refuge IA
