Pennington, NJ) Join our County Naturalist and her son for a morning of family-style birding. Children will participate in a Bird Spotting Challenge while parents enjoy the calls, songs and sights of our spring migration. Extra binoculars are available for adults and children. EAGLE NEST VIEWING SUNDAY, MAY PM FREE I-295 Scenic Overlook, north of Bordentown, NJ Get a first-hand view of the Bald Eagle nest at the Abbott Marshlands. Researchers will be on hand with spotting scopes and answers to our questions about these majestic raptors which have fought their way back from the brink of extinction. Park at the I-295 Scenic Overlook (northbound side) and walk approx. 1 mile to the site. Co-Sponsored by: Conserve Wildlife Foundation of NJ and D&R Canal State Park. Enjoy an evening of folk and bluegrass music while sipping coffee or tea, and snacking on homemade sweet treats. Guests are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner to eat before or during the concert. Dessert and hot drinks are complimentary. However, what may be good for the garden is not good for the forest. Most of the earthworm species in the northeast are non-native, and some scientists are now linking the presence of certain earthworms with carbon loss, the spread of invasive plants, and a decrease in biodiversity. Join County Naturalist Jenn Rogers to dig up the dirt on earthworms in our forests and gardens. Those little blue and white birds travel all the way from South America to build their nests in the beams above the horse stalls. Installing a rain barrel at your roof s down spout can mitigate these issues by catching excess snow melt.
