2 NZQF NQ Ref 1122 Version 4 Page 2 of 10 National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Advanced Operations) (Level 3) with strands in Textile Processing, and Textile Testing Level 3 Credits 61 or 64 depending on strand Purpose This certificate recognises advanced knowledge and skills in textile manufacturing, and it is a pathway to further education and training. The core compulsory section covers the underpinning knowledge and skills required safe working practices, and knowledge of the raw materials and processes of textile manufacturing. The core elective enables candidates to select appropriate standards from anywhere on the New Zealand Qualifications Framework to support their learning. Specialised skills in Textile Processing or Textile Testing are recognised in the strands. Successful completion of the qualification may lead to other specialised qualifications such as the National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Fibre Blending) (Level 4) with strands in Woollen Processing, and Semi-worsted and Worsted Processing [Ref: 0151], National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Woven Fabric Technology) (Level 5) with strands in Weaving Technology, and Finishing Technology [Ref: 0154], National Diploma in Textiles Manufacture (Weaving) (Level 5) [Ref: 0152], or National Diploma in Textiles Manufacture (Woollen Yarn Processing) (Level 5) [Ref: 0153]. Special Notes This qualification and the National Certificate in Textiles Manufacture (Operations) (Level 2) [Ref: 1121] replaced the National Certificates in Textiles Manufacture [Ref: ; ; 0916]. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. The table of mutually exclusive standards is provided on the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) website: Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions and retain their identification number (ID). Any version of a standard with the same ID may be used to meet qualification requirements that list the ID and/or that specify the past or current classification of the standard. Changes to structure and content New Unit 26001, Set up and monitor a continuous heat setting line, was added to the Textile Processing Strand. Standard 2912 was reclassified from the Fabric Finishing domain to the Textile Dyeing and Finishing domain. The level and credit value of standard 2913 changed from Level 4, 24 credits to Level 3, 12 credits. Expiring standard 2916 was removed. The titles of standards 4174 and 4175 were updated. People currently enrolled in programmes leading towards the award of version 2 of this qualification may either complete that version, or transfer to version 3. Previous versions of the qualification Version 2 was issued following the introduction of the Non-Woven Textiles domain to the NQF. Changes to structure and content Level 3 and 4 unit standards in the Non-Woven Textiles Domain were added as options in the Textile Processing Strand of the qualification. Total credits have not changed. People currently enrolled in programmes leading towards the award of version 1 of this qualification may either complete that version, or transfer to version 2. Changes to structure and content included unit standard 497 removed; unit standards 5876, 5877 and 5878 are included in this level 3 qualification; the two strands cover all sectors previously covered individually by the replaced qualifications; the core elective allows for the selection of credits from anywhere on the NQF; the maximum of 5 elective credits from the Textiles Manufacture subfield has been removed; the minimum total credits have been reduced from to 61 or 64. People currently enrolled in a programme leading to the award of a replaced textile qualification may either complete that qualification or transfer to either of the replacement qualifications. The last date for people to complete the replaced qualifications was 30 December Certification This certificate will display the logos of NZQA, and the organisation that has been granted consent to assess against standards that meet the requirements of the qualification (accredited).
