The last date to meet the requirements is 31 December Purpose The National Certificates in Wood Product (Level 3) [Ref: 0815] is the second in a series of certificates designed for those who work or would like to work in the wood product manufacturing industry. All National Certificates in Wood Product share core competencies required of all jobholders within the industry. This qualification recognises the skills and knowledge needed to work as a competent operator in wood product manufacturing industry. The elective sections are designed to allow flexibility in the range of workplace skills and knowledge and this reflects the large diversity in the wood product manufacturing industry. Credits gained in achieving this qualification can be used to meet the requirements of the National Certificate in Wood Product (Level 4) [Ref: 0816]. Replacement Information This qualification, the National Certificate in Wood Panels (Level 4) [Ref: 0254], the National Certificate in Solid Wood Processing (Level 3) [Ref: 0808], the National Certificate in Timber Machining (Size and Gauge) (Level 3) [Ref: 0812], and the National Certificate in Wood Product (Level 4) [Ref: 0816] have been replaced by the National Certificate in Solid Wood (Level 3) with strands in Engineered Wood Product Operations, Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) and Plywood Operations, Planer Operations, Pole and Post Operations, Saw Centre Operations, Timber Drying Operations, Timber Grading Operations, Timber Treatment Operations, Veneer Preparation, and Wood Product Operations [Ref: 1306]. A minimum of 80 credits Of which a minimum of 40 credits at Level 3 or above Compulsory standards Elective 1 As specified Elective 2 A minimum of 30 credits as specified Elective 3 Balance if required Award of NQF Qualifications Credit gained for a standard may be used only once to meet the requirements of this qualification. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award. The table of mutually exclusive standards is provided in section 7 of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) Rules and Procedures publications available at Reviewed standards that continue to recognise the same overall outcome are registered as new versions and retain their identification number (Id). Any version of a standard with the same Id may be used to meet qualification requirements that list the Id and/or that specify the past or current classification of the standard. This qualification, the National Certificate in Wood Panels (Level 4) [Ref: 0254], the National Certificate in Solid Wood Processing (Level 3) [Ref: 0808], the National Certificate in Timber Machining (Size and Gauge) (Level 3) [Ref: 0812], and the National Certificate in Wood Product (Level 4) [Ref: 0816] have been replaced by the National Certificate in Solid Wood (Level 3) with strands in Engineered Wood Product Operations, Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) and Plywood Operations, Planer Operations, Pole and Post Operations, Saw Centre Operations, Timber Drying Operations, Timber Grading Operations, Timber Treatment Operations, Veneer Preparation, and Wood Product Operations [Ref: 1306]. For detailed information see Review Summaries on the NZQA website. This qualification contains standards that replace earlier standards. For the purposes of this qualification, people who have gained credit for the expiring standards are exempt from the requirement to gain credit for the replacement standards see exemption table below. Credit for Exempt from In March 2000 standards in the Timber Remanufacturing domain (subfield Solid Wood Processing) were moved to the Wood Product domain (subfield Wood Processing Technology). People who have gained credit for standards in the Timber Remanufacturing domain may use those credits toward meeting the requirements of Elective 2. Standards in the Storekeeping and Warehousing subfield have been reclassified. Credit for standards classified under this subfield can be used to meet the credit requirements for Elective 3.
8 NQF Ref 0815 Version 3 Page 8 of 10 Previous versions of the qualification Version 2 was issued in November 2002 following a revision to take account of changes to endorsement F driver licensing regulations and the expiry of standards and The revision also included the addition of the Total Productive domain in the elective and took account of the review of Storekeeping and Warehousing standards. Changes to structure and content The domains of Powered Industrial Lift Trucks, and Total Productive have been added to Elective 3 Storekeeping and Warehousing domain has been replaced by the subfield Retail, Distribution, and Sales. People enrolled in programmes leading to the award of version 1 of this qualification could either complete that version or transfer to version 2.
