3 Folding Chairs George Tsai started Fairmont Designs in an empty warehouse in 1984 with two folding chairs one used as a makeshift desk. Fairmont Designs is Born Before establishing Fairmont Designs, George Tsai earned an undergraduate degree in engineering from Cornell, a master s degree in engineering from UC Berkeley, and completed a stint at Proctor & Gamble. But when the young man saw his father struggling to produce tables for west coast importers, George decided he wanted to establish a business where he could be more autonomous and control our own destiny. And thus, the entrepreneur formed Fairmont Designs in 1984 with himself as the only employee. Knowing nothing about the industry, he learned quickly, attending San Francisco Home Furnishings Markets and talking to furniture industry veterans. Team of Experts George Tsai based the fledgling company in Los Angeles. He called on experts in product development, merchandising, and marketing to create initial dining room and table groups, an important import arena at the time. The line expanded, the company thrived, and Fairmont Designs established manufacturing facilities in China for total vertical integration. The company s business model has always been to build a global brand on our own, innovate products and service customers worldwide. Great for outdoor as well as indoor use. It is a coarsegrained, hard igneous rock consisting chiefly of quartz and feldspar accompanied by one or more dark minerals. Generally ranging in color from white to black, pink or red, light or dark gray. The texture is typically homogeneous but may be gneissic or porphyritic. Best uses: kitchens, counter tops, wet bars, entry walls, floors, fireplaces, vanities, shower walls, tub decks, furniture and sculptures. Black Absolute (BA) How To Care For Your Natural Stone Vanity Tops Sealing All natural stone is porous and needs to be sealed periodically. Sealing fills the pores and help to prevent staining liquids from penetrating. However, sealing is only a preventive measure. When there is a spill, immediate clean up is crucial. We recommend a resin-based penetrating sealer for the best protection. Sprinkle a few drops of water on your surface. If they bead up, the sealer is adequate. If they quickly soak in, it is time to reseal the stone. Most granite/marble manufacturers recommend sealing be done every 6 months at a minimum. Cleaning Generally, the best care for natural stone is to keep it clean and buffed. Especially around faucets, wiping off the water will prevent a mineral buildup (a whitish, dull residue on the stone). For cleaning marble, always use a ph neutral cleaner. Any acid cleaner will damage the stone. Acid does not harm granite, but oil will soak in, leaving a darker area. Wipe up oils, spills, and splatters immediately, using a mild household cleaner.
