FIrst, I create my forms using multiple layers of molten glass in different colors. Once cool, I begin carving through those layers, exposing beneath them, and creating new surfaces and textures. My work is inspired by geology, landscape, and topography. Surface textures are achieved by hammering or roller printing with paper or fabric. Each shape is formed, and multiple pieces are fabricated together to create complex, movable, organic forms. These evolve into hand dye in ombre technique which I cut,shape and sew into one of a kind or very limited edition garments. Each form one at a time in a 1900 degree flame. Colors of glass are layered while molten and often fine metals are added to change the texture. Once the bead is formed, but still close to a molten state, glass is added to the surface. No molds used.
