4 Filler Products Soft Wax Filler 140 Soft Wax is a pliable blend developed to repair small scratches, cracks, holes, and pressure marks on light-duty surfaces. Soft Wax may be applied using the Special Filler Applicator ( ), or simply rubbed into the defect. Colors may be blended by applying the Soft Wax over an existing wax repair or by mixing small portions of color between your fingers. After the desired color is achieved, clean repair area with Liquid Sandpaper (711) and seal with a clear lacquer (see options on page 7). For Interior use. 5 Filler Products Hard Wax Filler 141 Hard Wax is a durable blend developed to repair many types of damage, from minor to the most severe scratches, gouges, and other defects. This easy-to-use material may be used to repair damage in high traffic areas, on flat or contoured surfaces, and edges. Our innovative process allows the mixing of wax colors together while melting into the damaged area with the Hot Knife (438, 439, or 440). Leveling is simplified by using the Special Applicator ( ) or the Special Scraper (406). Don t worry about affecting the finished surface when melting the Hard Wax, the Hot Knife never makes contact with the finish. After the repair is completed, clean with Liquid Sandpaper (711) and then seal with a clear lacquer (see options on page 7). For Interior use. 6 Filler Products Hard Wax PLUS Filler 143 Hard Wax PLUS is König s most durable wax filler. This filler was primarily developed to repair the most severe damages found in high traffic areas. It may be used on cabinets, furniture, countertops, flooring, windows, and doors. Hard Wax PLUS is UV resistant for use in the most severe conditions, including exterior applications. Our innovative process also allows you to mix the colors while you melt the Hard Wax PLUS into the damage using the Hot Knife (439). Filler Color Assortment Quick Filler Soft Wax Hard Wax Hard Wax + Quick Filler 130 The Quick Filler is an easy-to-use soft filler designed to repair very minor damages including small nail holes and fine scratches. It is the softest filler available and will fill the finest scratches with good color transfer. Apply the Quick Filler by rubbing 2-3 colors into the damage. Use the Special Applicator ( ) to press the Quick Filler into the damage. After repair is made, clean the surface with Liquid Sandpaper (711) and then seal with clear lacquer (see options on page 7). 7 Filler Products Rex-Lith Filler 150 to 153 Rex-Lith Filler is a two-component polyester filler used for recreating corners and repairing large gouges on wood and laminate surfaces. This filler is durable and can be pre-colored (with 215, 220, or 240) to achieve the best color match. After the hardener is added, you can expect durable results in a matter of minutes. Leveling this hard material is best achieved by using the Metal Planer (163). Simply apply the filler into the damage and level. Allow the filler to dry and then lightly clean the surface using Liquid Sandpaper (711). 8 Touch-Up Dye Products Touch-Up Dye Pen 210 REFILLABLE The re-fillable Touch-Up Dye Pen is a semi-transparent stain pen used to recreate grain patterns and missing color on transparent or semi-transparent finished wood surfaces. For Interior use. Touch-Up Dye 220 Touch-Up Dye is a semi-transparent liquid used with an artist brush to recreate grain patterns and missing color on transparent or semi-transparent finished wood surfaces. The Touch-Up Dye is also used for refilling the Touch-Up Dye Pens (210). Comes in 30ml bottles. For Interior use. To replace old, damaged tips on your Touch-Up Dye Pen, simply remove the old tip and insert a new tip (290) into the marker and allow for material to absorb into the new tip. 9 Touch-Up Paint Products Color Edge Pen 241 The Color Edge Pen contains a pigmented (opaque) acrylic lacquer designed to replace missing color on wood surfaces, painted finishes, vinyl window seams, flooring, and countertops. Weather resistant properties make this a good choice for both Interior and Exterior use. To replace old, damaged tips on your Color Edge Pen, simply remove the old tip and insert a new tip (291) into the marker and press down until liquid flows into tip. Color Touch-Up 240 Color Touch-Up is a pigmented (opaque) acrylic lacquer designed to replace missing color on wood surfaces, painted finishes, vinyl window seams, flooring, and countertops. This product may also be used to change the color of the Rex-Lith Filler (151,152,153) by adding drops of the Color Touch-Up before adding the hardener. Weather resistant properties make this a good choice for both Interior and Exterior use. Available in 30ml bottles. Brush-Fix Pigment Pen 288 The Brush-Fix Pigmented Pen contains a pigmented (opaque) acrylic lacquer designed to pre-color damaged areas and do precise touch-up work on painted or glazed finishes and vinyl window seams. This pen is equipped with an artist brush to apply the lacquer. The unique valve system allows for constant flow to maintain an even brush stroke. By simply pressing the valve, the liquid will flow through the brush tip and material may be applied. The liquid will continue to flow until the valve is released. May be used on Interior and Exterior surfaces! Touch-Up Paint Box 250 The Touch-Up Paint Box is a convenient palette of 12 pigmented colorants bound in resin. To use the Touch-Up Paint Box, simply add a few drops of Cellulose Thinner (710) to each of the colors you are using, wait a couple of minutes, and the paint will be liquefied and ready to use. These colors have excellent light-fastproperties and are suitable for all finished wood surfaces. Color Edge Pen PLUS 243 The Color Edge Pen PLUS contains a pigmented (opaque) acrylic lacquer designed to replace missing color on painted or glazed finishes and vinyl window seams. This unique pen is designed with a convenient pressure sensitive valve. Simply shake the pen and squeeze the valve and the liquid will begin to flow. The Special Repair Lacquer has been uniquely formulated to adhere to virtually any finished surface without showing signs of crazing, orange peel or fisheye. 12 Tools & Auxiliaries Brass Brush Felt Pad The Brass Brush is used to restore the grain texture in areas where the Soft or Hard Wax has flattened the natural contours of the grain Brass Brush The Felt Pad should be used with the Cotton Cloth (422) and the Liquid Sandpaper (711) to evenly remove the excess filler after the repair is complete Felt Pad Felt Pad with Abrasive The Felt Pad with Abrasive is used in the same way as the Felt Pad (419), but also includes an attached abrasive for added versatility. Fill scratches by means of transparent Hard Wax and the Hot Knife. Use the blade of the Knife to spread the wax over the damage. Compress damaged edges using the round side of the Edge Planer. Remove excess wax with the Special Fillers Applicator. Note: Sharp grooves on flat surfaces, round grooves on edges. Shiny spots can be reduced either by using Wire Wool or the Sanding/Polishing Pad. Let color wax mixture flow into the damage in the direction of the grain. Remove excess wax with the Metal Planer, Special Scraper, or the Special Filler Applicator. Clean with Liquid Sandpaper (see page 11 for instructions). Use the Hot Knife to melt transparent Hard Wax PLUS and apply to the pressure mark. Remove surplus wax by lightly pulling the Special Scraper across the surface. Hold at a 45 degree angle. Do not push scraper against the repair. Clean area with Liquid Sandpaper (see page 11 for instructions). Make an intermediate sealing by misting with Acrylic Lacquer from a distance of cm. Restore grain pattern while scratching with the Special Scraper and applying Color Touch-Up with the Red Marten Brush in the depth. Fill grain with Transparent Hard Wax PLUS and remove excess wax with the Metal Planer, Special Scraper, or the Special Filler Applicator. 20 Repair Application Tips Special Surfaces Repairing Polyester Finishes Remove all loose particles. Cut edges at an angle and slightly sand with 800 grit Sandpaper. Clean surface. Light-appearing spots should be pre-dyed with Touch-Up Dye. Follow mixing instructions on label. Dip wooden spatula into the mixed lacquer and dab drops into the damage area. Generously overfill the damage area Once filled, do not move! Hardening time at least 60 minutes. Complete cure time - 24 hours. Gently strip off polyester using the Special Scraper or the Metal Planer. For detailed information on how to mix lacquer, please see instructions for use. Sand surface using Sanding Liquid, Micro Sanding Paper, beginning with the lowest grit. Clean surface after every sanding process. Always sand wet. Apply Polishing Paste to a Felt Pad and polish off fine sanding dullness. Use sufficient Polishing Paste - do not allow paste to dry during polishing process. Now and then wipe with Ultra Soft Polishing Cloth to check results. Finished. Notes: Polyester Filling Lacquer can be mixed with any Ko220 Touch-Up Dye, Ko240 Color Touch-Up, or Ko215 Color Concentrate. A special Black colorant is available for deep black color repairs. Repairing Ceramic Tiles Preparation: The damage area has to be clean, dry and free from grease Filling: Use the tip of the Hot Knife to apply Ceramic Filler of the matching shade to the damaged area. Always work from light to dark. To match the right shade, different colors can be intermixed. Clean the tip of the heating iron after use. Leveling: Use the Transparent Special Fillers Applicator to strip off excess material. Important: Do not use a metallic tool, as this would create metal abrasion and the filled area would turn dark. Color corrections can be made by repeating the previous stage (with the desired color) and again removing any surplus using the Special Fillers Applicator. With even and high-gloss surfaces, fill small pores with transparent filler and again remove excess material with the Special Fillers Applicator. Cleaning: Clean the area with a cloth and Eco Cleaner. Seal the dry, repaired area with the Brush Pen Clear Lacquer (high-gloss or matt finish). The only exception is for white high-gloss surfaces. These should be sealed with the relevant high-gloss Brush Pen Covering Lacquer (colors can be intermixed). Gloss Sheen Adjustment: When the sealed area is dry a final gloss sheen adjustment can be made with the Sanding & Polishing Cloth. The white side of the cloth reduces the sheen level while the green side polishes. Repairing Scratches on High Gloss Surface Coloring Window Mitre Grooves Clean fine scratches on the lacquer surface. Clean and degrease mitre groove. Use a cloth to press tip of the Brush Pen flat and then carefully lacquer over the scratch with the Brush Pen. Use the Color Edging Pen or Color Edging Pen PLUS. Shake well before use and always release the pressure before use. Hold pen upright and depress the tip or squeeze release section. Dye groove in one application. Special matches are available. Dust-dry after 1-2 minutes. After approx. 2 hours drying period, the lacquer can be carefully polished with Polishing Paste and a Felt Pad. KONIG NORTH AMERICA, LLC 17
