18 Pion Sancal As her first creation for Sancal, Ionna Vautrin has designed a colourful trio of two tables and a stool inspired by chess pieces. Mustard, olive, peach, sky-blue and shadow grey are the five colours that have been selected for the bases. She uses a contrast of high gloss for the lacquers with a matte, wax finish for the natural wood. The seat of the stool is in natural leather, chosen to match the colour of the base. The table tops as well as the pedestals of the taller tables and the structures of the seating areas are in maple wood. 19 Magnum Sancal EstudiHac s José Manuel Ferrero might be Spanish, but his approach to design is akin to the bespoke tailoring of Mayfair. His new range of soft seating for Sancal, the Magnum, pays homage to this very British elegance. The gentleman designer has drawn inspiration from the glasses of cognac members of exclusive London clubs cradle in their hands as they debate politics. Comprising stools, lounge chairs and dining chairs, the range has been designed to withstand both demanding public spaces and domestic use. 20 La Isla Sancal As we travel more, we continually find ourselves in transit areas vast seas of inhospitable and unwelcoming space that Marc Augué has dubbed non-places. Sancal turned to Note, a Swedish design studio to provide some relief for weary travellers. They came up with La Isla as a solution. Its seductive curves and soft upholstery call out to all those navigating a lobby, desperately seeking refuge. Once installed on the Isla they will not be disappointed. The upholstery is just as comfortable as it looks with generous proportions and soft materials. A place to share with strangers while respecting their privacy; isolated but not excluded. 21 REW Sancal This creation by Rafa García is tremendously versatile, and can be used for a variety of diverse projects that require pieces for resting, eating or working. Rest. An entire family of chairs, sofas and modules, as light as they are comfortable, can be used with two different types of arm: one is high and thin like the backs and the other is low and soft, like the base of the design. Eat. The nutritious part corresponds to an ample number of benches which can be used with a dining table. The benches can be used alone, or together with upholstered wall pieces. Rafa s piece provides two back heights, L and XL. The low back creates a light design, while the higher backs provide some privacy. Work. The productivity at work is directly related to our concentration and feeling of wellbeing. 22 Mosaico Sancal A puzzle with more than one solution. Together with the design studio Yonoh, Sancal presents a unique program of occasional tables and seating solutions. Clara and Alex are both from Valencia, a Spanish city renowned for its ceramic tiles, so it seems only fitting that this provided the inspiration for the piece. Mosaico is a puzzle that can be used to solve a range of different spatial constraints. The bases are made of ash and are available in five measurements upon which marble or wooden tops can be fitted as well as upholstered seat cushions. The optional backs enable the pieces to be transformed into mini-sofas. The hexagonal piece enables, amongst other possibilities, the creation of compositions that make closed loops. The corner angle adds an element of sinuosity to the design with its curved side. 23 Aballs Parachilna Jaime Hayon's creates ABALLS for Parachilna, a collection that combines the world class craftsmanship skills of Bosa with the traditional artistry of hand blown glass. Ceramics and blown glass are linked by a polished brass ring. The dimmer's control lever is also made of polished brass. The ABALLS collection includes a chandelier, hanging lamps available in three different sizes and table lamps available in two sizes. The chandelier showcases a golden electroplated or white, black lacquered steel structure matching the colors of the ceramic bodies. 24 blown glass diffusers complete the fixture. The hanging and tablelamps are made up of a blown glass diffuser and a white, black or golden ceramics base. The result is a set of strongly decorative objects that produce a warm ambient light and can be used in a domestic environment as well as in contract projects. 24 Anwar Parachilna The Anwar collection, designed by Stephen Burks for Parachilna includes a series of suspension lamps and floor lamps that can be either individual pieces or combined in unique ways. The collection has a structure made from wire rods in black, golden or copper electroplated steel. Two leds module are placed at the bottom edge of the structure, one facing up and the other facing down, provide ambience and direct light. The specs are also coloured to match the structures colour either black, gold or copper. The suspension lamps come in 3 different sizes whereas the floor lamps come in 2 different sizes. Both the suspension and floor lamps can be combined to create several different designs.
