Established in 1983, NAPA supports the work of practicing anthropologists by helping practitioners refine their skills, develop their careers, and market their services. NAPA facilitates the sharing of information among practitioners, academics, and students, publishes material useful to practitioners, contributes to the professional development of anthropologists for practitioner positions, and supports the interests of practitioners both within and outside the academy. NAPA is a section of the American Anthropological Association (AAA), the primary professional society of anthropologists in the United States since its founding in Today, it remains the world s largest professional organization of individuals interested in anthropology. The AAA s mission is to advance anthropology as the discipline that studies humans and nonhuman primates in all their aspects through archaeological, biological, ethnological, and linguistic research and to foster the use of anthropological knowledge in addressing human problems.
