2 About the Seminars in general: Since the start of the first ECATA Course in 1992, all participants are joining the ECata ALumni ASsociation called. In the meantime the association can count more than 350 members and is continuously growing. To foster the idea of a living and information exchanging network, and its members decided starting 1996 to have at least 1 event per year to meet, discuss and learn from each other as well as from high level speakers being invited, coming mainly from Aerospace Industry and University. Abstract 15th (ECATA Alumni Association) International Aerospace Seminar New markets With the markets focusing more towards emerging countries as well as more complex sales campaigns involving technology and industrial co-operations future of European programs could be impacted. Evolving industrial landscape The focus of the symposium has been set on how to develop aerospace programs, addressing new opportunities while correctly assessing competition within a changing environment. Transfers Technology transfer involves giving access to knowledge, technologies, methods of manufacturing, and facilities amongst institutions. A competitive and healthy aerospace industry requires managing requests from customers to transfer technologies and industrial activity. Patents and intellectual property management, innovation diffusion, understanding, knowledge of transfer mechanisms are some of the underpinning issues. When to say no? What are long-term implications? Complex program management Full life-cycle development of an aircraft, taking into account these new constraints requires an extended program management and associated skills. This added complexity needs to break the all too common cycle of delay, cost overruns and failure.

3 Going beyond performance Only few organizations are able to both achieve and sustain excellence. Working together and the cost to business and society of not doing so could be high. This means that not only performance is important, but also sustainability, keeping organizations performing over time and improving. This is the ultimate competitive advantage: performance and efficiency of the organization. Setting directions for Europe Assess: How ready are we? Do we have the will and the skills? Aspirations: Where does European Industry want to go? Should we put more emphasis on short-term goals or long-term vision? Assessment: How ready are we to go there? Do we have the will and the skills to get there? Acting: Plan to achieve the goals, what to improve and what not to do. 9 Silvio SANDRONE ASTRIUM Vice President, Head of Launchers Sales & Business Development EADS Astrium ST Silvio is playing since almost twenty years with all sorts of space toys launchers, satellites (Earth observation, navigation) and human spaceflight in both industry and government across Europe. Starting off as a system engineer, he has worked as project manager, consultant, lobbyist and launch operations manager. In his current position he is in charge of developing new launcher programmes and business for Astrium, both in Europe and internationally. Prior to joining EADS in 2005, Silvio worked for EUMETSAT, Vega, Arianespace and ThalesAlenia Space, living in locales as different as Turin, Bremen, Paris, Strasbourg, Darmstadt and Guiana. A proud EU citizen, and also thrilled by our global world, Silvio enjoys the variety of languages and cultures. Simon WARD AIRBUS Vicepresident global international cooperation and partnerships. A graduate of Ecole Centrale de Paris, Denis Vercherin began his career at Snecma in 1976 and successively served as the Technical Representative and Program from GE in Cincinnati in In 1989 he became Head of program mark CFM56-5B engines installed on the A320 and then in 2000, Program Manager of Snecma CFM56. In 2004 he was appointed Deputy CEO of Hispano Suiza, then Chairman and CEO of Snecma Services in In 2009, he held the position of Deputy CEO of Snecma Safran then joined in 2010 as Director of the Industrial Group.
