1 ArcGIS Data Appliance MLP Portable Solution ESRI is pleased to present the ArcGIS Data Appliance MLP Portable Solution. The ArcGIS Data Appliance MLP Portable Solution provides a transportable turnkey GIS solution, with much of the data content available through ArcGIS Online services optimized for viewing with the included ArcGIS Server license. The ArcGIS Data Appliance MLP Portable Solution includes preloaded hardware to support the configuration with the data collection of choice, plus ArcGIS Server Enterprise software, Microsoft Windows Server 2008, and Microsoft SQL Server. This solution is an all-in-one integrated design with keyboard and displays, all conveniently packaged in a single, field-deployable unit. The solution includes three high-resolution LCD screens fully integrated within its chassis to support the most visually intensive applications in the field. Weighing 72 pounds, it is easy for customers to move when they need to. The solution even includes a shipping case that can be used for transporting the device to the field. Data Content The data content includes imagery, street maps, topographic maps, shaded relief, elevation data, and reference layers, organized into collections (see section 2.0 for details). You can select which collections to include with your MLP 5-Bay Expansion Unit(s). The data is prerendered and precached, in 2D and 3D formats, to optimize map display and performance. The data is updated regularly, and you can choose how often to receive updates. Updates are delivered on new disk drives that you simply replace in your appliance. View sample data content. The ArcGIS Data Appliance MLP Portable Solution provides you with extensive information management, visualization, and collaboration capabilities. The ArcGIS Data Appliance MLP Portable Solution helps you centrally manage Web services, maps, and applications to promote greater organizational efficiency, lower costs, and improve collaboration among departments. 1.2 Key Features Spatial Data Management With the ArcGIS Data Appliance MLP Portable Solution, administrators can organize and manage existing geospatial and business information. You can integrate this information with the prerendered data collections included for the presentation of rich geographic content. Collaboration and Sharing The ArcGIS Data Appliance MLP Portable Solution lets you create rich Web mapping and analysis applications that can support project collaboration, what-if scenarios, or community visioning activities. 6 2.0 Data Collections 2.1 Introduction The ArcGIS Data Appliance MLP Portable Solution includes choices of three data collections: World Premium Collection, North America Collection, and World Collection. The World Premium Collection includes data as defined in the following sections: 2.2 World Imagery Collection (with subsections), 2.3 World Basemap Collection (with subsections), and 2.4 World Collection (with subsections). The North America Collection includes data as defined in the following sections: World Imagery Collection for North America, World Basemap Collection for North America, and 2.4 World Collection (with subsections). The World Collection includes data as defined in section 2.4 (with subsections). Each data collection includes a set of basemap and overlay layers in map cache format that you can view in 2D or 3D and use with your local data. Options are also available for geocoding and routing. The Geocoding options are discussed in section 2.5. The Routing options are discussed in section World Imagery Collection The World Imagery Collection includes low-resolution imagery for the world and high-resolution imagery for the United States and many other areas around the world. The map includes National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Blue Marble: Next Generation 500-meter resolution imagery at small scales, i-cubed 15-meter esat imagery at medium to large scales for the world, and United States Geological Survey (USGS) 15-meter Landsat imagery for Antarctica. The map features i-cubed Nationwide Prime 1-meter or better resolution imagery for the contiguous United States; Getmapping 1-meter resolution imagery for Great Britain; and GeoEye IKONOS 1-meter resolution imagery for Hawaii, parts of Alaska, and several hundred metropolitan areas around the world. i-cubed Nationwide Prime is a seamless, color mosaic of various commercial and government imagery sources, including Aerials Express 0.3- to 0.6-meter resolution imagery for metropolitan areas and the best available United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Agricultural Imagery Program (NAIP) imagery and enhanced versions of USGS digital orthophoto quarter quadrangle (DOQQ) imagery for other areas. The worldwide street map presents highway-level data for the world and street-level data for the United States, Canada, Japan, southern Africa, and a number of countries in Europe and elsewhere. This comprehensive street map includes highways, major roads, minor roads, railways, water features, administrative boundaries, cities, parks, and landmarks overlaid on shaded relief imagery for added context. The street map was developed by ESRI using ESRI basemap data, AND road data, USGS elevation data, United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)-World Conservation Monitoring Centre (WCMC) parks and protected areas for the world, and Tele Atlas Dynamap and Multinet street data for North America and Europe. The coverage for street-level data in North America includes the United States, Canada, and part of Mexico (Mexico City only). Coverage for street-level data in Europe includes Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Northern Ireland (Belfast only), Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland. Coverage for street-level data elsewhere in the world includes China (Hong Kong only), Colombia, Egypt (Cairo only), Indonesia (Jakarta only), Japan, Russia (Moscow and St. Petersburg only), South Africa, Thailand, and Turkey (Istanbul and Ankara only). 12 2.3.1 World Basemap Collection for North America The World Basemap Collection for North America includes a license to the subset of the World Basemap Collection data available for North America (i.e., United States, Canada, Mexico, and Caribbean). The collection features a multiscale street map for the United States and Canada with highways, major roads, minor roads, railways, water features, administrative boundaries, cities, and landmarks overlaid on shaded relief imagery for added context. This collection also includes detailed transportation and boundary overlay layers for display on other basemaps such as imagery. This map is intended for display down to large scales (i.e., ~1:10,000 scale) in the United States and Canada. This collection including World Satellite Imagery, World Street Map, DeLorme World Basemap, Physical World, World Shaded Relief, and World Places Locator contains cartographically designed basemaps and overlays that are prerendered and precached at multiple scales. The maps in this collection are designed for use from small to medium scales (down to ~1:100,000) World Satellite Imagery World Satellite Imagery includes satellite imagery for the world at multiple resolutions down to 15 meters per pixel. This imagery is well suited for use as a natural view of the earth or as a basemap for other data layers (such as national park boundaries, hydrography, or ecozones). The imagery is intended for display at small to medium scales (i.e., down to ~1:75,000 scale). The map is intended for display at small to medium scales (i.e., down to ~1:150,000 scale) only. More detailed maps for North America, Europe, and other countries are available as part of the World Basemap Collection described in section 2.3. World Street Map is well suited for visually locating places around the world and is useful as a basemap for displaying city-to-city routes. World Street Map can also serve as a reliable basemap for regional and local data layers, such as places of interest, and to support many local government and business applications. Street map including global coverage Regional map of Northwest USA Highway-level data for the world DeLorme World Basemap The DeLorme World Basemap is a multiscale basemap designed for use by GIS technicians and other mapping professionals, across a variety of industries. The DeLorme World Basemap provides a seamless global basemap with a horizontal accuracy of +/- 50 meters. The map accurately portrays major transportation layers, inland and shoreline hydrography, agreed upon and disputed jurisdiction boundaries, and major geographic features. The map provides coverage for the world down to a scale of approximately 1:300,000. In designing the map, DeLorme applied a rich cartographic look and feel to create a seamless view of the world, combining accurate object placement and projection with a compelling topographic visualization of the earth. The source imagery resolution is 1.24 kilometers across the entire globe and 500 meters within the conterminous United States. Physical World also includes scanned versions of the Operational Navigation Charts (ONCs) at a map scale of 1:1,000,000. The ONCs were produced by the U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and include a variety of physical and cultural features. This layer includes more than 200 publicly available charts across the world. At continental and subcontinental scales, this physical map is well suited for illustration of the earth's landforms and topography. It also provides a strong foundation for integrating environmental data layers such as faults, volcanoes, and other related global features. The source imagery resolution is 90 meters for all land areas between 60 north and -56 south latitude. For regions outside this band of latitude, the map resolution is 1 kilometer. 16 This map can be used to add shaded relief texture to other GIS maps. It provides a useful basemap for integrating various data layers (e.g., demographics, protected areas) using transparency settings, enabling the relief image to show through the other integrated map layers. It is especially useful for inclusion in maps that do not include orthoimagery. This shaded relief imagery was developed by ESRI using GTOPO30, Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), and National Elevation Database (NED) elevation data from the U.S. Geological Survey. This locator references a geodatabase of over six million places around the world that includes countries, states and provinces, administrative areas (e.g., counties), cities, landmarks, water bodies, and more. The geodatabase is built primarily using the GeoNames data that is accessible via Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License through ESRI has assembled selected records from the GeoNames data and appended additional attributes (e.g., description, rank, bounding coordinates) for use in this locator. The locator accepts a single-line place-name input (e.g., Paris; or Paris, France; or Washington, DC) and returns candidates sorted by match score and rank. 17 2.5 Geocoding Options Geocoding allows you to find and display addresses on a map and see how they relate to surrounding features. The ArcGIS Data Appliance offers options to perform address-level geocoding. Users that license these options will receive one or more address locator files that are preconfigured with the necessary data to be published as a geocoding service using ArcGIS Server. Because you will be configuring the geocoding service on your server, you will have full control over what capabilities the geocoding service is enabled to support, such as reverse geocoding and batch geocoding Geocoding Options for United States and Canada These options enable you to geocode street addresses in the United States and Canada. The address locator provided is a composite locator that supports multiple levels of geocoding. The following levels of geocoding are supported in the USA: street address point, street address, ZIP Code, ZIP+4, and city/state. The following levels of geocoding are supported in Canada: street address, street name, postal code, and city/province. The locator is based on current-year Tele Atlas reference data for the United States and Canada. The locator can be configured to geocode single addresses, reverse geocode, or batch geocode multiple addresses per request Geocoding Option for Europe This option enables you to geocode street addresses in Europe. 18 2.6 Routing Options Routing allows you to generate a route between two or more points to display the route geometry on a map and the associated driving directions. The ArcGIS Data Appliance offers options to perform detailed street-level routing. Users that license these options will receive one or more routable street files that are preconfigured with the necessary data to be published as a Network route service using ArcGIS Server. The Network extension for ArcGIS Server is needed for this option. The Network extension is included with an ArcGIS Server Advanced License but needs to be purchased if you have an ArcGIS Server Standard License and have not previously acquired a Network extension license. Because you will be configuring the routing service on your server, you will have full control over what capabilities the routing service is enabled to support, such as the maximum number of stops and barriers for a route Routing Options for United States and Canada These options enable you to generate routes and driving directions for two or more points in the United States and Canada. The service supports multipoint routing, including options for optimized routes that adjust the sequence of stops to the shortest path. The service supports the option for route barriers to force the route around user-defined points Routing Options for Europe These options enable you to generate routes and driving directions for two or more points in Europe. Each data collection is also fully documented with descriptive information on the data content that it includes. 5.0 ArcGIS Data Appliance MLP Portable Solution Yearly Renewal and Support The ArcGIS Data Appliance MLP Portable Solution includes the following support: Data and ESRI Software Use The purchase of the ArcGIS Data Appliance MLP Portable Solution includes a right-to-use license for the applicable ESRI software and data collection for one year. The continued right-to-use license and support for the ESRI software and the data collection after the first year are only available if the applicable Yearly Renewal fees are purchased. Data Updates If ArcGIS Data Appliance MLP Portable Solution Yearly Renewal fees are purchased, licensed data collections are updated on an annual basis for Standard Yearly Renewal and a semiannual basis for Premium Yearly Renewal and delivered on disk drives to be replaced and installed by the user in the MLP 5-Bay Expansion Unit(s). Telephone Support The ArcGIS Data Appliance includes one year of telephone support. Support for data issues is provided by ESRI Support Services, and hardware support is provided by IceWEB/INLINE Corporation. This support includes installation, configuration, and upgrade assistance with each delivery as well as ongoing troubleshooting. Support will continue with the purchase of the Yearly Renewal fees. 21 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) 1. How can a user see an example of the data that comes with the various data collections? If you have open Internet access, you can view the ArcGIS SM Online services referenced at arcgisonline.esri.com. 2. In what format is the data delivered? The map data is delivered in ArcGIS cache format (e.g., JPEG and PNG tiles) that is optimized for publishing with ArcGIS Server. The data is delivered in map cache or globe cache formats for publishing as 2D map or 3D globe services. The 2D map cache data is published in WGS 1984 Web Mercator as 256 x 256 pixel tiles that may be reprojected on the fly in ArcGIS Desktop clients. The 3D cache is delivered in a cubic projection supported in ArcGlobe and ArcGIS Explorer. The geocoding data is delivered as an ArcGIS locator file (.loc) geodatabase that is optimized for publishing as a geocoding service. The routing data is delivered in a compressed file format (.sdc files) with impedance attributes that is optimized for publishing as a routing service. 3. Can a user geocode and/or route with this data? Yes, street-level geocoding and routing is available if the geocoding and/or routing options are purchased for the additional costs stated.
