3 Our Changing World, Extraordinary Times Self driving cars Prosthetics controlled by the mind Some Scientists have posed that STEM cell & Genetic advancements may be able to regenerate body parts by 2030 World population more than double in 50 years (3.4B to 7.4B) We all carry our own personal portal to the SkyNet -in fact multiple What is the implication when Smartphones become as powerful as desktop computers? 5 Curriculum & Technology: Who s Driving? Curriculum leaders make the decisions about content, pedagogy, and resources The majority of these decisions are software or subscription based When specific hardware decision are made, they are generally based on software requirements or preferences The Tech department act as a catalyst for ideas and innovations Page 5

11 Technology Support As technology changes, we must change. The needs and demands for technology support are diversifying Online systems Diﬀerent types of devices: Probe, Programmable Robots, 3D printers, elabs, ilabs, Maker Spaces, etc.. Very real dangers of ransomware and viruses PARCC Event audiovisual support has increased And more importantly, opportunities to engage students with powerful authentic tools/activities are also increasing Page 11
