1 February 2018 Volume 1 TECHNO.News AS9100 Rev D Certification December 2017 saw Technoturn achieve AS9100 Rev D & BS EN ISO 9001:2015 certification following an external audit which we passed with zero nonconformances, with Technoset due to follow in April This was made possible by all the hard work and effort put in over the last 12 months reinforcing our Quality Management System and continuously improving our internal processes. Not only does this secure our place in the aerospace market for another 2 years, it installs confidence in all of our valued customers across the world and within the UK. This year has seen a real drive for continuous improvement in an effort to improve customer satisfaction, on-time delivery, internal efficiencies and growing our supply chain relationships. An example of one of these improvements was the creation of a new goods inwards inspection department for which we employed a new member of staff to help grow this area of the business. Since the introduction of the new goods inwards inspection department we have seen less defective/non-conforming product reach the customer and a much improved material management system with full traceability and certification on all our materials. We look forward to seeing our Quality improve year on year, making sure that our customers receive the best quality products that the market has to offer. Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC) In September 2017 we implemented a Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC) system incorporating the use of barcode scanners to clock on and off of production jobs.

This means that when the customer calls to progress an order, we are able to tell exactly how many parts have passed through each operation and give more accurate estimated completion dates in a

2 Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC) In September 2017 we implemented a Shop Floor Data Collection (SFDC) system incorporating the use of barcode scanners to clock on and off of production jobs. This enables us to record accurate production hours and check the progress of a job in real-time. What does this mean for the customer? This means that when the customer calls to progress an order, we are able to tell exactly how many parts have passed through each operation and give more accurate estimated completion dates in a shorter amount of time. We understand that time is valuable to our customers and we wanted to be able to give the information the customer wants in the quickest time possible and we have achieved this with the addition of the SFDC module in PSL Datarack (our production software). This project did not happen overnight. It has been 2 years in the making, after many hours working closely with PSL Datatrack making sure that the system worked the way that we wanted it to. The implementation of SFDC was a massive culture change for us and through careful planning and hard work by everyone involved we managed to transition with very minimal amount of issues. The ability to now run job costing helps use to identify areas for improvement and in some cases provide more competitive quotes for NPI products. This will help us to improve our efficiencies and make for a more profitable business going forward. We are now able to track the progress of jobs on the shop floor in real time... compromising the aesthetics of the part. So, in June 2017 Technoturn made a significant investment in a new cleaning machine to improve quality and productivity.

So, in June 2017 Technoturn made a significant investment in a new cleaning machine to improve quality and productivity. The old cleaning machine had seen its last day and became unreliable and difficult to maintain. Carbon Exhaust filter Avg. Cycle time 10-15mins Water Chilled via ICS Chiller. We teamed up with Kumi Solutions Ltd. and Caldic (UK) Ltd to procure a cleaning solution to best suit our requirements. This involved the decommission of the old cleaning machine and designing a new cleaning area for the new machine. This took months of careful planning to make sure that we created a safe and effective working environment. The use of DOWCLENE 1601 in combination with ultrasonic cleaning enables us to clean even the most complex of parts. We have procured bespoke work holding baskets and trays so that we can wash parts in bulk or in segregated cells where delicate parts need to be protected from damage. With the cleaning solution fully enclosed there are no harmful emissions released into the environment keeping our staff safe and our emissions clean. 3

Not only will Technoturn put their apprentices through an NVQ including day release to college (for which we have developed a relationship with Sussex Coast College to get the best possible education for our apprentices), but we have our own internal training program, ensuring that valuable engineering knowledge and experience is passed on to the next generation for many years to come. We strongly believe that it is up to us to make sure that manufacturing in the UK has a bright future. Technoturn have taken on two new apprentices for the start of 2018 and looks forward to seeing them develop over the coming years. We want to bring manufacturing back to the South East and put engineering back on the map as the highly respected profession that it once was Working Together Technoturn have been reaching out to local manufacturing companies in the South East to build relationships and grow a healthy supply chain that will bring manufacturing back to the region.
