Results 13 proposals received 7 were recommended for funding 3 were put in the reserve list (no available budget) 3 proposals were rejected
SPICE Implementation and development of key components for the assessment of Status, Pressures and Impacts, and Social and Economic evaluation in the Baltic Sea marine region HELCOM Ms Ullali Zweifel SYKE (FI), SwAM (SE), EMI (EE), IMGW PIB (PL), SEI Tallinn (EE) Whole Baltic sea marine region 01/01/2017, Duration: 12 months The project proposal is directly contributing to the finalization of the Second HELCOM Holistic Assessment of Ecosystem Health in the Baltic Sea (HOLAS II). Specifically the SPICE project will contribute to: 1) finalize and quality assure the thematic assessments on biodiversity, eutrophication, hazardous substances as well as pressures and impacts and support the final collation of data and the visual presentation of results, 2) develop marine litter indicators towards operationalization and prepare a proposal for the assessment of marine litter in the 2nd holistic assessment, 3) further develop and implement the economic and social analyses at the Baltic Sea regional scale, 4) develop guidelines for assessments of cumulative impacts and thresholds related to pelagic and seabed habitats.
QUIETMED Joint programme on noise (D11) for the implementation of the Second Cycle of the MSFD in the Mediterranean Sea Centro Tecnológico Naval y del Mar (CTN) (ES) Ms Covadonga Rayon Barcelona IEO (ES), UPV (ES), SHOM FR), ISPRA (IT), IZVRS (SI), ACCOBAMS, CBRG-UoM (MT), IOF (HR), FORTH (EL) Mediterranean Sea 01/01/2017, Duration: 24 months The project objective is to enhance cooperation among Member States (MS) in the Mediterranean Sea to implement the Second Cycle of the Marine Directive and in particular to assist them in the preparation of their MSFD reports by 2018 through: i) promoting a common approach at Mediterranean level to update GES and Environmental targets related to Descriptor 11 in each MS marine strategies ii) development of methodological aspects for the implementation of ambient noise monitoring programs (indicator ) iii) development of a joint monitoring programme of impulsive noise (Indicator ) based on a common register, including gathering and processing of available data on underwater noise.
INDICIT Implementation of the indicator Impacts of marine litter on sea turtles and biota in RSC and MSFD s (Short title: Indicator Impact Turtles) Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) (FR) Mr Claude Miaud MNHN (FR), ISPRA (IT), CNR-IAMC (IT), HCMR (EL), UVEG (ES), ULPGC (ES), PAU- DEKAMER (TR), FRCT (PT), INSTM (TN) Affiliated entities: EPHE (FR), FCPCT (ES) Mediterranean and NE Atlantic 01/02/2017, Duration: 24 months The INDICIT action has two main axes: (i) obtaining a precise definition of the indicator Debris ingested by sea turtles (threshold values, temporal and spatial variations, biological constraints having an effect on the indicator) and evaluating the feasibility of the indicators Biota entanglement in debris and Micro-debris ingestion by biota ; (ii) implementing the D10 indicator Debris ingested by sea turtles.
MEDCIS Support Mediterranean Member States towards coherent and Coordinated Implementation of the second phase of the MSFD Hellenic Centre For Marine Research (HCMR) (EL) Dr Kalliopi Pagou IFREMER (FR), AZTI (ES), Usalento (IT), CORILA (IT), IWRS (SI), IEO (ES), NIB (SI), NKUA (EL), IOF (HR), NTUA (EL) Affiliated entities: CNR ISMAR (IT), OGS (IT), UNIVE (IT) Mediterranean Sea 01/03/2017, Duration: 24 months The key objectives of this project are: 1) to facilitate and provide the methodological standards for the next phase of MSFD, towards coordinated approaches between MSs, by reviewing, comparing, selecting and adapting appropriate existing methodologies; 2) to focus on Mediterranean regional/subregional cooperation and standardization, taking in consideration its specificities and therefore recommend suitable approaches for this region.
JMP EUNOSAT Joint Monitoring Programme of the EUtrophication of the NOrth-Sea with SATellite data Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment (RWS) (NL) Ms Lisette Enserink Stichting Deltares (NL), IRSNB (BE), IFREMER (FR), PML (UK), MSS (UK), CEFAS (UK), AU (DK), SMHI (SE), NIVA (NO), IMR (NO) North Sea 15/02/2017, Duration: 24 months The proposed action aims at coherent and cost effective GES assessments for eutrophication in the greater North Sea: 1. Enhance coherence in GES determinations for chlorophyll across North Sea countries and between WFD and MSFD. 2. Enhance coherence in eutrophication assessments based on chlorophyll, using satellite data. 3. Organise North Sea wide operational collaboration.
MISTIC SEAS 2 Applying a subregional coherent and coordinated approach to the monitoring and assessment of marine biodiversity in Macaronesia for the second cycle of the MSFD Fundo Regional para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FRCT) (PT) Mr Francisco José Pinto DRAM (PT), SRA (PT), ARDITI (PT), DGRM (PT), FB (ES), IEO (ES), DGSCM (ES), DGPMN-GOBCAN (ES) Macaronesia 01/03/2017, Duration: 24 months The MISTIC SEAS 2 aims to implement the common monitoring programs designed in MISTIC SEAS and reinforce regionally coherent, coordinated and consistent updates of the determinations of GES, as well as to prepare the next steps for 2nd cycle of the MSFD. Building on the work carried out during the current MISTIC SEAS project, it will coordinate the monitoring for the Macaronesia sub region through the development and setting up of the joint monitoring programs, that will gather the data needed to determine the status of the selected biodiversity components (marine mammals, sea turtles and seabirds) at subregional level using the common GES definitions and targets commonly agreed for the Macaronesia.
IDEM IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MSFD TO THE DEEP MEDITERRANEAN SEA Universita' Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM) (IT) Mr Roberto Danovaro CNR (IT), CSIC (ES), DFMR (CY), ENEA (IT), IFREMER (FR), TAU (IL), UB (ES), UM (MT) Mediterranean Sea 01/04/2017, Duration: 24 months The project IDEM aims to support the next phase of MSFD implementation, in particular to achieve, by the end of the project, a regionally coherent, coordinated and consistent, initial environmental assessment and determination of GES, as well as the definition of sets of environmental targets for the Mediterranean deep sea (below 200 m). Besides this, IDEM aims at understanding, quantifying and mapping drivers, anthropogenic pressures and impacts, current knowledge and spatial coverage of data regarding the MSFD indicators in the Mediterranean deep sea.
