Publications - Published my first paper titled 'Cloud-Based Analysis and Control for Robots in Industrial Automation ' at IEEE International Conference on Parallel and Distributed Systems in Melbourne(ICPADS 2015) -Paper selected for presentation at XRCI Open, 2016 Research Projects Telerobotic Cloud (June August 2015) I developed a cloud-based robot vision and coordination system enabling a remote user in directing a robot to locate, pick up and move objects, using hand gestures(leap Motion). 2 My system has been prototyped and deployed in the VXLab s Advanced Manufacturing Robotic Interoperation Test Lab (RMIT University, Australia ) on robots supplied by AICAUSE partner ABB Capital Investment Indicator (Aug Dec 2015) Analyzed the leaked dataset of a popular dating platform to form clusters of people that are more likely to spend money on such a platform The project was done under the guidance of Prof. G Srinivasaraghavan, IIIT B Belief Propagation Model versus a novel Probalistic Model (Aug Dec 2015 ) Given the Amazon movie ratings and scraped data from Metacritic came up with a model to eliminate movie rating outliers. The project was done under the guidance of Prof. G Srinivasaraghavan, IIIT B Key Academic Projects Line follower Robots (Oct Nov 2012) Programmed irobots to do simple tasks such as follow each other, avoid obstacles etc. In the case of line follower robots, the communication was via a Bluetooth channel, and master robot communicated it's co-ordinates to the slave robot, which in turn followed it. The project was done in a team of five, and I was assigned the role of team lead. Robotic Arm (Jan Apr 2013) Spearheaded the team "Circuit Breakers" that made the Moving Robotic Arm (using Arduino Kit). The robotic arm was attached to a moving frame, and servo motors were made use of to rotate the arm. The project was assigned to a team of five members, and my role was to program the algorithm and test it. Cognitive Modeling over Web Data (Jan Present) As a part of the Web Sciences Lab, I have been working on the project Online Collectives. It involves analyzing behavioral data on social media, and trying to classify people on the network into herds, crowd, gangs and mobs. Using various statistical analysis tools and machine learning algorithms, an attempt is made to predict future trends about the behavior of particular individuals on the web. This project was done by a team of four members, and my contribution was mainly cleaning the Twitter data and coding the algorithm. Tele-Education Project (Aug Jan 2015) An initiative of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore(IIM-B) the project aims to improve the quality of education in rural areas of Bangalore, by providing live streaming of educational videos. The team I work with consists of five members, and my task was to identify the project requirements and gather the data. The final stage of the project would involve data analysis to understand improvement trends in learning levels among students. Android Mobile Application (Oct Present) Developed a full fledged Android mobile application that helps users car pool to their workplaces. I worked at a start up as a front-end software developer in a team of five members. Online Game Development (Jan July 2014) Abhijay Vuyyuru 2

3 Designed an unbeatable Tic-Tac-Toe game(5x5) using artificial intelligence algorithms ( Minimax Algorithm) played over a network using server-client model. In addition, implemented a full fledged game 'Scrabble' in C++ making use of Object Oriented Programming. Designed various arcade games in Python like Asteroids, RiceRocks, Spaceship, Memory, Brickbreaker, Pong, Stopwatch, Hangman etc with a graphical user interface. Pitch Extraction of Musical Notes ( Oct Dec 2014) This project was done by a team of five members led by me. My role was to extract pitch of various musical notes using time domain as well as frequency domain methods (Cepstrum method). The implementation was done in MATLAB. Simulation of a Digital Communication System (Aug Oct 2014) Implemented a full fledged simulation of a digital communication system in MATLAB, including source encoders/decoders, channel encoders/decoders and modulation techniques. Dynamic Branch Predictor (Oct Nov 2013) Designed a dynamic branch predictor algorithm and implemented it on SimpleScalar, an open source Computer Architecture simulator using C. This project was done by a team of two members, and my role involved design, analysis and testing of the algorithm. Work experience RMIT University, Australia May 2015 July 2015 Research Intern After the completion of my third year, I was awarded an internship at RMIT s Australia-India Research Centre for Automation Software Engineering (AICAUSE) a to develop next-generation applications in cloud support for industrial automation engineering. I developed the telerobotic cloud, a cloud-based robot vision and coordination system enabling a remote user in directing a robot to locate, pick up and move objects, using hand gestures. My system was prototyped and deployed in the VXLab s Advanced Manufacturing Robotic Interoperation Test Lab on robots supplied by AICAUSE partner ABB. I also got the opportunity to submit my first research paper at an international IEEE conference. Migo Software Developer Intern Innovate Delhi Entrepreneurship Academy (Stanford University) Oct 2014 Present Migo is a Bangalore based start-up founded by IITians that aims to provide car pooling solutions. I work with a team of 6 people, focusing on the front end technologies for building the mobile application. Research Intern June 2014 July 2014 This was a 3 week long academy designed by Sharique Hasan, Professor at Stanford University and Rem Koning, his PhD student. Some of the things I learnt: - Entrepreneurship, team building and strategy - Design thinking, financial and business models, details of starting a new venture. - Giving an elevator pitch and pitching the idea to investors. Daily curriculum included lectures from established entrepreneurs, as well as CEO's of companies like Yahoo!, MakeMyTrip, Slideshare etc, followed by interactive sessions where we worked in teams. 4 This was a joint venture of Stanford Graduate School of Business and IIIT-Delhi. AMD July 2013 August 2013 Intern - Successfully completed "Analysis of execution time of SOC of verification infrastructure flows" making use of programming skills, under Mr. Vikas Grover, manager of verification department, AMD Hyderabad. Task involved extracting time stamps of various functions from a log file, and analyzed all tasks performed by that function. All this was done using Python programming. - Along the main project, I also mastered skills of Makefile, gained expertise in Perl language, and began learning basic Verilog. BNP Paribus Jul 2014 Aug 2014 Intern - Worked on a project under Branch Operations and Group Operations Department. - Used Python programming to update the Excel Files concerned with FC-GPR details, verify the balances of clients etc. - Understood other banking operations. AIESEC Team Member E-Cell, IIIT Bangalore Feb 2014 Present -Working at AIESEC (Bangalore), world's largest not-for-profit youth organisation, that facilitates international exchange to promote leadership. - This organisation is spread in 127 countries. Core Committee Member -Active member of the E-Cell. -Organised various college events such as B-Quiz, workshops and pioneered a start up 'Snack-Shack'. Part of the runners-up basketball team and football team that event head in the annual fest of IIITB(2013) Learning the electric keyboard professionally since Watching English movies and cooking Italian cuisine are two of my favorite past times.
