2 Dear industry colleagues, On behalf of Offshore magazine and the entire PennWell organization, I am pleased to introduce you to the 2012 Deep Offshore Technology International Conference & Exhibition. The event will be held at the Perth Exhibition Centre, Perth, Australia, from November. We thank DOT 2012 host Shell Australia and this year s advisory board chairman Bruce Steenson, VP Technical and Prelude, for ushering in the fourth decade of the world s premier deepwater conference. We are delighted to be back in Australia, and I invite you to participate in what will be one of the best programs ever. Economic growth across the Asia-Pacific continues to spur demand for liquid fuel supplies. Most of that regional demand will be met by imports sourced from Western Australia s technologically advanced and capital-intensive deepwater projects. As you can see in the following pages of this pre-show guide, the conference content is tailored to Australia and the Asia-Pacific region, but also includes global case studies and perspective from industry-leading operators and technology providers. The conference program begins with a keynote address by special guest Ann Pickard, country chair, Shell Australia. Pickard will discuss the role of floating technology in opening deepwater opportunities. David Stewart, regional wells manager Asia-Pacific, Shell International E&P, will address the deepwater drilling challenges post-macondo. After a short break, senior managers will profile a selection of deepwater projects to give exclusive insights into current development trends. The projects include Gorgon, Wheatstone, Pluto, Ichthys, Pazflor, Nord Stream, and the world s first FLNG production system Prelude. To encourage audience participation and debate, panel discussions are integrated in the program on Wednesday and Thursday. The first discussion addresses asset integrity and process safety management. Speakers are from Woodside, Transocean, Shell, INTECSEA, and includes the CEO of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority, Jane Cutler. The second panel examines the status and outlook of FLNG, and includes panelists from Shell, TOTAL, Saipem, and Statoil. Meanwhile, the traditional, three-track technical program comprises parallel sessions on well construction & drilling operations; subsea boosting & processing; flow assurance; asset integrity; offshore gas; field architecture & development concepts; floating production facilities; and more related topics. DOT 2012 also offers pre-conference workshops as well as an exclusive tour of the Australian Marine Complex on the final day of the event, to enrich your experience. Thank you for your continued interest and support of DOT. We look forward to seeing you there. Sincerely, David Paganie Chief Editor, Offshore magazine Director, Offshore Conferences 2

4 Dear industry colleagues, On behalf of the advisory board and Shell, it is my great pleasure to invite you to attend the 2012 Deep Offshore Technology International Conference & Exhibition. DOT has been running annually now for more than thirty years and I am confident that this year s conference will live up to the reputation for excellence in technical insights and thought-provoking panel discussions built by all of the conferences that have come before us. This year the advisory board has distilled the many great abstracts received down to 54 fantastic papers for three parallel technology sessions covering floating systems, subsea processing and deepwater drilling systems as well as the development case studies which we all look forward to learning from. We also have panel discussions on deepwater projects, floating LNG systems, asset integrity and process safety management which will stimulate some great discussion. I am sure that there will be something there for everyone in our industry, from those who have just joined through to the most experienced. On top of that there will be exhibitors representing some of the industry s best technology providers plus the opportunity to meet with colleagues, partners and competitors from around the world. All of this in Australia, one of the strongest growing and most vibrant regions in the oil and gas industry today. I look forward to welcoming you in Perth. Bruce Steenson Vice President Technical & Prelude Shell Development Australia 2
