24 The Green OA Process Author (or his/her proxy) enters the details of his/her publication in Arrow and uploads the fulltext work, approving the OA deposit licence The metadata and the file/s are automatically passed into the repository and an alert goes to the Arrow Administrator. Around 80% of Journal Publishers allow the deposit on Open Access of some version of an article. Others will negotiate or allow an embargo. For books, etc.: publisher permission is sought. The Arrow Administrator checks: a) the metadata & b) the copyright policies and approves the Item for archiving in the repository, having applied an embargo if necessary Author receives a link to the item archived in the repository. The Administrator contacts the author for alternative version of the publication if there are copyright or other issues Simple, one-off process; serves multiple internal and external requirements, saving time and maximising impact.
