5 Technology Hand Vascular Pattern Recognition system - The core technology for future biometrics Techsphere s proprietary hand vascular biometric technology analyzes vascular pattern information distributed on the back of the human hands with infrared optical system and verifies the personal identity through analyzed vascular pattern. Along with finger vein technologies of Sony and Hitach, Palm vein technology of Fujitsu, HVPR is recognized as one of three major vascular biometrics in the world. However, as time goes by, our HVPR is proving to be the best performing technology among these three. More over, HVPR shows excellent performance in the categories of USABILITY, ACCURACY, SPOOFABILITY, and the performance in inferior environment. 6 Technology Brief VP-II system obtains the vascular pattern image as the highest quality by applying patented HVPE (Hand Vascular Pattern Emphasizing) algorithm for compensating the weak vascular vessel images and enhancing the pattern recognition performance. Process for extracting vascular pattern information Hand Scan Raw Image Pre-processing Feature vector Store with encryption 1. Acquiring raw image through infrared optical camera sensor from the back of hand 2. Preprocessing to enhance image quality and to emphasize vascular patterns 3. 10 Reference sites Korean Air Force 무기고관리시스템 Korean Air Force (KAF) decided to adopt biometric access control to its all arms and ammunition storages at over 1,100 sites in Since the decision, KAF tested VP-II X, along with other biometric devices, for over one year in real use environment at the radar center of Hwanbyung Mt., Daegu strategic wing air base, and Byukjae anti-aircraft artillery to go through extreme weathers (high/low temperature and humidity). More than 1 year s daily evaluation, KAF selected VP-II X as the best and suitable biometric modality for its use. In 2011 and 2012, Techsphere implemented and installed all the access control SI with VP-II X for more than 1,100 KAF s arms and ammunition storages. As of today, VP-II KAF systems are operating immaculately. In this project, Techsphere also developed an application software to manage arms and ammunition storage according to legacy protocols.. 10
