2 5JSC/RDA/RDA to FRBR mapping/rev/2 RDA-FRBR Mapping The attached table provides a mapping of the elements, element sub-types, and subelements specified in RDA that would conventionally be encoded in bibliographic records to the corresponding entity and associated attribute or defined in FRBR. 1 Elements listed under sections that will not be developed until after the initial release of RDA in 2009 are shaded. The following symbols are used in the table: ~ Indicates that there is no attribute or defined in FRBR that directly corresponds to the. However, there is an indirect correspondence to one or more FRBR attributes or s. In some cases there may be no FRBR attribute or that corresponds to the per se, but there are FRBR attributes or s that correspond to one or more of the sub-elements of the. For example, the publication statement has no direct equivalent in FRBR, but the sub-elements of the RDA publication statement (place of publication, publisher s name, and date of publication) correspond to the FRBR attributes place of publication, publisher, and date of publication, respectively. There are other cases where there may be an attribute or defined in FRBR that is similar to the but with a more narrowly defined scope. For example, the FRBR attribute scale is defined only in relation to a cartographic image or object, whereas in RDA the scope of the scale element has been extended to cover other still images and three-dimensional forms as well. + Indicates that there is an attribute or defined in FRBR that corresponds to one or more aspects of the, but that the is broader in scope. For example, FRBR defines system requirements as an attribute associated with an electronic resource, but the is broader in scope, encompassing equipment requirements for other types of resources as well.
