Page 2 Quilt Center: 1. Lay out the 16-1/2" yellow, orange, green, and blue tonal squares as shown in quilt diagram. Stitch squares into rows, then sew the rows together. 2. Trace a 26" circle on the wrong side of the rockets fabric. Cut the circle 1/4" to 1/2" larger than the traced circle. Fold the seam allowance to the wrong side at the traced line. Lay the circle of fabric right sides up on the right side of the fourpatch background. Hand stitch the circle in place - do not trim the background fabric. If you want to trim away the background fabric behind the circle, do it after all the borders are added, but before layering the quilt for quilting. Assembly: 1. Stitch a 2-1/2" x 44" stripe strip to right and left sides of quilt center. Press and trim excess from these and all successive border additions. Sew a 2-1/2" x 44" stripe strip to top and bottom of quilt. 2. Add a 2-1/2" black border in the same manner as the first border. 3. Using the 4-1/2" strips, cut the following pieces using templates: yellow tonal: (4) A1, (4) A4, (4) A6, and (4) A8 green tonal: (4) A1, (4) A4, (4) A6, and (4) A8 blue tonal: (4) A1, (4) A4, (4) A6, and (4) A8 orange tonal: (4) A1, (4) A4, (4) A6, (4) A8, (2) B2, (2) B5, (2) C2, and (2) C4 yellow stars: (4) A2, (4) A5, and (4) A-9 green stars: (4) A2, (4) A5, and (4) A-9 blue stars: (4) A2, (4) A5, and (4) A-9 red stars: (4) A2, (4) A5, (4) A-9, (2) B1, (2) B4, (2) C3, and (2) C6 planets: (16) A3, (16) A-7, (2) B3, (2) C1, and (2) C5 NOTE: The pieced border may vary slightly from the quilt image. 4. Piece four each of the blue, green, yellow, and orange 4-1/2" x 10-1/2" border blocks. 5. Piece together four borders with the blocks as shown. Add borders to right and left sides of quilt. 6. Piece two of each of the border corner blocks using the orange tonal, red stars, and planet fabrics. 7. Using the guide on the template pages, cut each of the corner border blocks diagonally in half as indicated with the dotted line. 8. Mix and match the half blocks to make the four corner blocks, so they look like mitered corners. 9. Add border corner blocks to remaining two borders. Add these borders to top and bottom of quilt.

Page 3 10. Cut two 2-1/2" x 44" black strips each into two equal lengths. Stitch each half-length strip, end-toend with four 2-1/2" x 44" black strips. Add borders to the right and left sides, then to the top and bottom of quilt. Finishing: 1. Cut backing into two equal lengths. Sew the two lengths together along selvage edges. Layer the backing, batting and quilt top. Quilt or tie as desired. 2. Prepare binding from six 2-1/2" x 44" black strips. Sew strips together into one long binding strip. Press strip in half lengthwise. 3. Carefully trim backing and batting even with quilt top. 4. Leaving an 8" tail of binding, sew binding to top of quilt through all layers matching all raw edges. Miter corners. Stop approximately 12" from where you started. Lay both loose ends of binding flat along quilt edge. Where these two loose ends meet, fold them back on themselves and press to form a crease. Using this crease as your stitching line, sew the two open ends of the binding together right sides together. Trim seam to 1/4" and press open. Finish sewing binding to quilt. 5. Turn binding to back of quilt and blind stitch in place.

Page 4 Circle Template: Template is 25% of the finished 26" circle needed in quilt. To enlarge, use a copy machine to enlarge template 400%. Crosshairs in circle are to help you put the enlarge sections together, as well as for placement on the four-patch background.
