Crop N Time Scrapbook Events Newsletter Page 2 February 2018 ~ Volume 92 Message from the Owner: Celebrate the little things.as they can turn out to be big things. I generally have a full plate of things I want to get done, along with the things I need to get done. And of course the things I want to get done seem way more fun than those things I need to get done. This year seems to be much of the same, so as much as I aim high with my own expectations, I am also going to be realistic. I will celebrate all my achievements, big and small, as they all have meaning. I will remember to take pictures along the way to celebrate my oldest finishing up his Senior Year in High School, as my youngest gets through his first year on the modified boys swim team, as we go on camping adventures this summer, as I finish a race I signed up for and as we bring our oldest to college in the Fall to celebrate some of the bigger achievements. But I will start celebrating the small things as well, like balancing the checkbook each week, remembering to send out birthday cards BEFORE my families birthdays, getting caught up on my favorite shows so I m not behind or having dinner planned out the night before. The smaller things may be celebrated with a glass of wine, buying myself something new or a night out with the hubby just because, but they will all be a positive part of the obstacles we navigate each week. I may even start putting some of them in my scrapbook as it s those little things that help us achieve the big things. Karen Co-Owner Crop N Time Scrapbooking Events

Crop N Time Scrapbook Events Newsletter Page 3 February 2018 ~ Volume 92 Tips & Techniques ~Woven Heart Basket (Danish Heart) Make a woven heart basket to fill with treats to give on Valentine s Day or Christmas..or to someone special just because. You can even make some, leave them flat and put on a card or scrapbook page. You will need: 2 sheets of 8 ½ x 11 cardstock (use contrasting or complimentary colors/patterns), Scissors, Glue (for optional hangar), Ribbon (for optional Hangar) 1. Print template twice, once on each color cardstock. Fold paper in half along fold line. 2. Carefully cut around the shapes and up each strip. You will cut through the fold to make strips, but do not cut along the fold line! 3. You can label strips your first time to make things easier. Label one color, D C B A and other 1 2 3 4. 4. Rotate pieces as shown. To start weaving, Take strip 1 and weave it through the loop of Strip A. 5. Next, weave Strip 1 around Strip B. 6. Continue by weaving Strip 1 through the loop of strip C. 7. Finish weaving Strip 1 by weaving it around Strip D. 8. Move Strip 1 up until it touches the top of the slits. 9. Now take Strip 2 and weave it around Strip A. 10. Weave Strip 2 through Strip B. 11. Weave Strip 2 around Strip C. 12. Finish weaving Strip 2 by weaving it through Strip D. 13. Weave Strip 3 similar to Strip 1 and Strip 4 like Strip 2. Gently ease strips towards the edges. 14. Cut a strip of cardstock to make handle. Glue ends to inside of basket. **Once the glue dries, fill basket with candy, chocolates, confetti or valentine notes. Change things up by using pattern paper, felt, or even scraps of wrapping paper! Create some hearts for your next project and show us at the next crop. You will earn some extra raffle tickets!!
