They will be given the opportunity to apply their skills to real life situations and are encouraged to adopt a professional attitude to their work. The assignments cover architecture, engineering and media design. Students are required to produce a portfolio of evidence for each standard. This course covers the topics of basic needs for young children, health and safety issues with young children in an early childhood settings, resources for play, nutrition for children and protecting children from abuse and communicating with children. As part of this programme students have the opportunity to attend work experience in an early childhood centre.
