The course topics include architectural design (visitors centre) and product design (cell phone). Students will develop their traditional drawing skills as well as learning new computer design techniques. There is also the opportunity to study the work of historical and contemporary designers and apply this knowledge in their own practice. L3 GRAPHICS LEVEL 3 CODE L3Graf Design & Visual Communication Department Technology 18 credits-3 Internal Achievement Standards Entry Requirements Successful completion of Level 2 Graphic Design This course enables students to expand upon their use of traditional drawing skills and computer design skills. They will be given the opportunity to apply their skills to real life situations and are encouraged to adopt a professional attitude to their work. The assignments cover architecture, engineering and media design. Students are required to produce a portfolio of evidence for each standard. Students have the opportunity to be put forward for a Graphics Scholarship as part of this course. This leads to tertiary courses in Graphic Design and other media design based courses. Unit Standards offered include the identification/recognition of vehicle components, the study of petrol, diesel, two and four stroke engines, vehicle braking, transmission, steering and suspension systems. Some Units Standards require a skill to be mastered and students are given the opportunity to use hand tools and automotive equipment in an automotive workshop environment. This course leads to a wide range of areas in the Automotive and Engineering Industries.
