Jumpers n J7 and J8 must be set fr the crrect input vltage range and number f input devices. (See Table 4.) Jumper blck J7 sets the vltage range fr the input signal(s). If the jumper n jumper blck J7 is incrrectly set, the cntrl may perate in an unexpected manner. See Trubleshting. Jumper blck J8 selects the number f input signals used. When dual inputs are selected, Terminal 3 f TB3 (TB3-3) is enabled. The VFD66 cntrl varies the speed f the fan mtr in accrdance with the higher value f the tw input signals received. If the jumper n jumper blck J8 is incrrectly set, the cntrl may perate in an unexpected manner. See Trubleshting. Jumper blck J9 selects maximum frequency utput f the cntrl. Remve the jumper fr 50 Hz mtrs, typically used in Eurpe. Install the jumper fr 60 Hz mtrs, typically used in Nrth America. Pwer t the VFD66 cntrl must be discnnected and recnnected befre frequency changes take effect. De-Rating the VFD66 Cntrl fr High Temperatures and High Altitudes Ambient air temperature and altitude f the installatin affect the maximum utput ampere rating f the VFD66 cntrl. High air temperature makes the heat sink less effective in dissipating the generated heat. High altitudes have thinner air than lwer altitudes, which is less effective in dissipating heat. The less effective the heat sink is, the lwer the maximum utput ampere rating f the VFD66 cntrl. Temperature De-Rating Fr temperatures up t 122 F (50 C), the maximum utput ampere rating is unaffected by temperature. At temperatures between 122 F (50 C) and 140 F (60 C), the maximum utput ampere rating is decreased. The VFD66 cntrls are nt designed t perate in temperatures abve 140 F (60 C). See Figure 10 fr temperature de-rating fr 208/230 VAC mdels. See Figure 11 fr temperature de-rating fr 400/460 VAC mdels. See Figure 10, Figure 11, and Table 5. If a VFD66Exx type (208/230 VAC) is used and the temperature is belw 122 F (50 C), the VFD66 cntrl may be used fr lads up t 10.6 amperes at any altitude belw 3,300 ft (1,000 m). If the temperature arund the VFD66 cntrl reaches 140 F (60 C), the rating is different. Accrding t Figure 10, the VFD66 cntrl is rated fr nly 7.5 amperes at 140 F (60 C). If the VFD66 cntrl is used in Denver, Clrad (altitude 5200 ft), the utput rating is reduced. (See Table 5.) When the temperature is less than 122 F (50 C), the VFD66 cntrl is rated fr 9.96 amperes, as shwn by the equatin: De-Rated Maximum Output Amperes = 10.6 Amperes x 0.94 = 9.96 Amperes If the VFD66 cntrl is used in Denver, Clrad (altitude 5200 ft), and the ambient temperature reaches 140 F (60 C), then the VFD66 cntrl is de-rated t a 7.5-ampere maximum current draw due t the high ambient temperature and is further de-rated t 7.05 amperes f current draw because f high altitude. De-rated Maximum Output Amperes = 7.5 Amperes x 0.94 = 7.05 Amperes Cmmissining Table 6: Mde Selectins Accrding t Input Device Input Device Input Type Input Mde J2 Jumper Psitin J3 Jumper Psitin J7 Jumper Psitin 1 Any 2 Nne 2 Manual Installed Installed NA A350P Temperature Standard Installed Remved Remved P352PN Pressure Standard Installed Remved Remved P35AG-9200 Pressure Standard Installed Remved Installed Any 0-5 VDC Devices Any 3 Standard Installed Remved Installed Any 0-10 VDC Devices Any 3 Standard Installed Remved Remved P499 r Other Electrnic Pressure Transducer Pressure Electrnic Pressure Transducer Remved Remved r Installed 4 Remved r Installed 4 1. Electrnic Pressure Transducer Input Mde IMPORTANT: Minimum mtr speed and mtr actin at minimum speed cannt be set in this mde. The VFD66 cntrls wrk with mst 0-5 VDC r 0-10 VDC electrnic pressure transducers. Fr best results, use 0-5 VDC, ratimetric P499 Electrnic Pressure Transducers. Ratimetric transducers vary the signal vltage frm 10-90% f the 5 VDC supply pwer as the pressure ges frm minimum t maximum f the transducer rating. Nte: Nn-ratimetric transducers generate mre errr than ratimetric transducers. 0-10 VDC P499 transducers are nt ratimetric. The J7 jumper psitin sets the input signal vltage range. Install the J7 jumper when using a 0-5 VDC transducer. Remve the J7 jumper when using a 0-10 VDC transducer. Nte: Applicatins using 0-10 VDC transducers require a separate 15 VDC pwer supply. The J3 jumper psitin establishes the lw r high pressure range f P1 (Table 9). P1 adjusts the pressure setpint and establishes the pressure value at which the VFD66 cntrls drive the fan mtr at maximum speed. P2 adjusts the prprtinal band ver which fan mtr speed is cntrlled. Figure 13 illustrates J3, P1, and P2 settings in Electrnic Pressure Transducer Input mde with a P499 transducer (0-500 psi). If the jumper n J3 is in the remved psitin, P1 adjusts the setpint between 200-350 psi. The fan mtr starts when pressure reaches 200 psi (Setpint Prprtinal Band) and maximum mtr speed (100% RPM) is reached at 250 psi (Setpint). 100% 50% RPM (200 psi) (250 psi) Prprtinal Band Set by P2 25 100 psi (50 psi) Pressure Setpint Set by P1 and J3 Figure 13: Electrnic Pressure Transducer Input Mde, 0-500 psi P499 Transducer 10 VFD66 Series Cndenser Fan Speed Cntrls Prduct/Technical Bulletin

Selecting a Mtr IMPORTANT: D nt exceed the VFD66 cntrl s maximum utput ampere rating. Exceeding the cntrl s maximum utput ampere rating can cause the VFD66 cntrl t shut dwn n an verlad fault. The VFD66 cntrl allws the mtr t develp trque that varies with the current. The mtr prvides maximum trque at its maximum current draw. Use these guidelines t select the prper mtr fr use with the VFD66 cntrl.! CAUTION: Risk f Prperty Damage. Use nly three phase mtrs apprved by the manufacturer fr speed cntrl applicatins with the VFD66 Cntrl. Failure t use a three phase mtr may damage the mtr and ther prperty. Required Mtr Specificatins Mtrs used with the VFD66 Series Cntrls must: have variable trque peratin be UL Recgnized and CSA Certified, r equivalent be AC inductin 3-phase mtrs be rated fr 208/230 VAC, 60 Hz (230 VAC, 50 Hz) r 460 VAC, 60 Hz (400 VAC, 50 Hz) have ball bearings have an Inverter Rating (400/460 VAC mtrs) have Insulatin Class F r better On 400/460 VAC mdels, the mtr insulatin system must be deemed suitable by the mtr manufacturer fr use n PWM (Pulse Width Mdulated) IGBT (Insulated Gate Biplar Transistr) variable frequency drives. These are als referred t as inverter-rated mtrs. The VFD66 cntrls are suitable fr use with thermally prtected mtrs r the like intended by their manufacturer fr fan speed mdulating applicatins. Multiple Mtrs A VFD66 cntrl can cntrl multiple mtrs; hwever, the sum f the Full Lad Amperes (FLA) ratings fr the mtrs must nt exceed the maximum utput amperage rating f the VFD66 cntrl, including any de-rating due t altitude and/r temperature. Ordering Infrmatin T select the prper mdel f the VFD66 cntrl fr a specific applicatin: 1. Lcate the nameplate (dataplate) n the mtrs intended fr use with the VFD66 cntrl. 400/460 VAC mtrs fr use with the VFD66 cntrls must be inverter-rated mtrs. See Selecting a Mtr fr further infrmatin. 2. Identify the FLA ratings f each mtr t be cntrlled by the VFD66 cntrl. If mre than ne mtr will be cntrlled, add the ratings f all the mtrs t determine the ttal FLA. 3. Adjust the VFD66 cntrl s current rating fr temperature and altitude. See De-Rating the VFD66 Cntrl fr High Temperatures and High Altitudes. 4. Cmpare the sum f the amperage draw f the mtrs t the adjusted current rating f the VFD66 cntrl. If the current required is between tw VFD66 cntrl mdels, select the mdel with the higher amperage rating. 5. Cnfigure the prduct number f the desired VFD66 cntrl by adding the apprpriate 3-letter suffix t VFD66. See fr prduct number cnfiguratin. See Table 15 fr standard mdels.
