Jack Doll Measurements Height of finished doll: 18.5 cm (7¼ inches) Materials Double knit yarn in brown, black, yellow, green and beige 50 g for one doll A pair of 4 mm (US 6) knitting needles Polyester fibre for filling Tension / Gauge 22 sts and 28 rows to 10 cm (4 inches) measured over st.st. using 4 mm needles Pattern Each doll is knitted in one piece. Pattern notes To make the doll, begin at the feet and knit a rectangle changing yarn colour for each body segment. The head is shaped like a hat. Then, the head is stuffed, and the neck is formed by pulling in with a gathering thread. Now, the body is stuffed, and the bottom is seamed. The arms and legs are made by stitching through all layers after the doll is stuffed.
To knit Jack Doll Using 4 mm (US 6) needles and double knitting yarn, cast on 34 sts. Work in st.st. throughout and follow colour sequence as follows. Work 4 rows for shoes in brown. Work 14 rows for trousers in black. Work 2 rows for belt in brown. Work 10 rows for sweater in green and yellow stripes Work 2 rows for neck in beige. Work 8 rows for face in beige. To shape head Work 11 rows for head in black, as follows: 1st row: Knit 2nd row: Purl 3rd row: Knit 4th row: Purl 5th row: K2 * k2tog, k4; repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2tog. (28 sts) 6th row: Purl 7th row: K2 * k2tog, k3; repeat from * to last st, k1. (23 sts) 8th row: Purl 9th row: K2 * k2tog, k2; repeat from * to last st. k1. (18 sts) 10th row: Purl 11th row: * K2tog; repeat from * to end. (9 sts) Thread yarn through remaining stitches, gather stitches up firmly, and secure. To make up / Finishing Sew the head and back seam. Stuff body. Sew bottom seam for shoes. Weave a strand of matching yarn across the neck rows. Draw up to form neck and secure ends. Weave a strand of matching yarn across the last shoes row. With matching yarn, form arms with small backstitches through all layers. Define the legs in the same way from the bottom to a little below the waistline. Embroider facial featured. Add hair. Weave in ends.

(50 sts) 4th row: Purl 5th row: Knit 6th row: Purl 7th row: Purl Cast off loosely. To make up / Finishing Sew back skirt seam. Sew the head and back seam. Stuff body. Sew bottom seam for shoes. Weave a strand of matching yarn across the neck rows. Draw up to form neck and secure ends. Weave a strand of matching yarn across the last shoes row. Draw up to form shoes and secure ends. With matching yarn, form arms with small backstitches through all layers from waist to 2 rows beneath the neck. Define the legs in the same way from the bottom to a little below the waistline. Embroider facial featured. Add pigtails. Weave in ends.

Pattern notes For Jill Doll knit the hat in pink. For Jack Doll knit the hat in green and yellow. To knit hat Using 4 mm (US 6) needles and green, cast on 34 sts. 1st row: Using green, knit 2nd row: Using green, knit 3rd row: Using yellow, knit 4th row: Using yellow, purl 5th row: Using green, k2 * k2tog, k4; repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2tog. Scarf Measurements To fit Jack or Jill Doll Materials Double knitting yarn 10 g for one scarf A pair of 4 mm (US 6) knitting needles Tension / Gauge 22 sts and 30 rows to 10 cm (4 inches) measured over garter stitch using 4 mm needles Pattern notes For Jill Doll knit the scarf in pink. For Jack Doll knit the hat in green or yellow. For a neater edge, always slip the first stitch of every row. To knit scarf Using 4 mm (US 6) needles and green, cast on 5 sts. Work in garter stitch (every row knit) until 84 rows have been completed. Work measures 28 cm or 11¼ inches from the beginning. Cast off loosely. To make up Weave in ends. Add fringe. To make the fringe (optional) For the fringe, cut 6 lengths of yarn 6 cm long. To form a piece of the fringe take 1 strand of yarn 6 cm long, and fold it in half to form a loop. Using a fine crochet hook, draw the loop through the knitted fabric of your scarf and then draw the ends through the loop. Pull the fringe knot tight. Space 3 fringe knots evenly across each end of your scarf. Trim fringe to 2½ cm.
Variations The basic doll is knitted in st.st. and bands of colour.
