Good evening, and welcome to the Voice of Idaho Amateur Radio Club weekly net. This is your net control station for the evening [your name, call sign, and location]. We are using the 146.840 MHz repeater located on Shafer Butte North of Boise. Prior to commencing the net, is there any emergency traffic I need to be made aware of? Un-key... if none, continue Should there be emergency traffic, we will handle the traffic and resume the net when the traffic has finished. The purpose of this weekly net is to provide an exchange of information, establish cooperation among our members & the radio amateur community, to promote radio knowledge, and to just have fun... This net meets every Thursday at 8 PM local time on this repeater, 146.84 MHz located on Shafer Butte at 7582 feet north of Boise. VOI operates VHF & UHF Voice, APRS, and D-STAR local repeaters covering the Greater Treasure Valley. Check the VOI website (at www.voiceofidaho.org) for the latest repeater information, locations and operating status. Un-key... All licensed radio amateurs are invited to participate in this general-purpose net, and we welcome everyone. Announcements, equipment listings, health and welfare, and a weekly ARRL audio news report, if available, will follow check-ins. Un-key... We begin the net this evening with check-ins from our elected club officers, and those appointed to assist and serve the club. I will list all the officers first and then have them check in when I finish. In performing this roll-call there is no station roster. Therefore, as net control this evening I will ask for check-ins alphabetically by the first letter of your call-sign suffix i.e. A, B, C, D, etc. Note: explain to folks; don t rush - and ask for repeats if you can t identify the call or there are multiple check-ins at the same time. Please use the ITU Phonetic Alphabet for your call-sign. Stations with suffixes beginning with [A, B, C, D,] please check in at this time with your name, call sign, and location. Continue through rest of alphabet in groups of fours or fives. (Five groups of four and then U,V,W,X,Y,Z seems to work pretty well) Be sure and ID your station when appropriate, throughout this. The Voice of Idaho club meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 PM local time at the Idaho pizza company, which is located at 405 E. Fairview in Meridian. The voice of Idaho repeater systems are maintained and operated year-round through your generous donations and annual dues. Additional donations are appreciated and are most welcome.
