Introduction Purpose: Objectives: Content: Learning Time: Introduce the ASG series, Fixed Frequency XO & VCXO - Explain the benefits of the ASG series of products - Provide overview of the primary features 11-pages 30-minutes Welcome to Abracon s ASG series; XO & VCXO Product Training Module. This training session will provide an overview of the key features and benefits; as well as discuss the applications of this product series.
Key Attributes of the ASG Series Configurable: Phase Noise: ASG Series is based on a custom Integrated Circuit that is configurable to provide the following features: XO or VCXO LVCMOS or LVDS or LVPECL Output +2.5V or +3.3V Supply Voltage Frequency Range: 10MHz to 250MHz for LVCMOS Frequency Range: 10MHz to 1.50GHz for LVDS & LVPECL Lower Power Consumption than competition Good Phase Noise, -118dBc/Hz typical at 1MHz offset; from 1.50GHz carrier rms Jitter: Typical < 1.0 ps rms jitter over 12kHz to 20MHz Bandwidth (@1.50GHz carrier with 1.60 ps rms Maximum)
Key Attributes of the ASG Series? Power Consumption: < 60mA maximum with LVPECL output (25% less than competition) Overall Stability: Size: Rise & Fall Time: < ±50 ppm All Inclusive Frequency Stability over 10-year Product Life (Inclusive of set-tolerance, reflow, frequency pulling and pushing & Aging) Small form factor, 5.0 * 7.00 * 1.9 mm SMT Reflow-able package Ultra fast, 350ps max. with LVPECL Symmetry: 45% / 55% worst case
Internal System Architecture The custom IC used inside the ASG series is optimized to provide flexibility to be configurable for various key attributes, including frequency set-ability to with-in ±2 Hz @ 1.5GHz carrier
Typical Phase Noise Performance @ 1.50GHz Carrier ASG series is designed to provide optimal jitter performance at high carrier frequencies. Typical jitter of <1ps rms over 12kHz ~ 20MHz BW @ 1.5GHz carrier is realized; with maximum guaranteed jitter of 1.6ps rms
The Quartz Crystal used inside the ASG series typically holds <±15 ppm frequency stability over the operating temperature range of -40ºC to +85ºC. The default maximum F vs. T specification is <±35 ppm; but it is possible to offer <±25 ppm @ a premium
The ASG series has a guaranteed ±50 ppm Minimum frequency pull over Vc = 0 ~ 3.3V. This is sufficient pull to compensate for All Inclusive drift over 10-year Product Life
ASG series :: Typical Applications: Networking, SONET/SDH WiMax / WLAN Computing Phase Locked Loops Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) DSL/ADSL Base Terminal Stations
Summary Key Specifications: Configurable as either an XO or a VCXO from 10MHz to 1.50GHz Good Phase Noise and Jitter Better power consumption in differential mode than competition Target Markets and Applications: Networking, SONET/SDH WiMax / WLAN Computing Phase Locked Loops Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) DSL/ADSL Base Terminal Stations Primary Competition: Silicon Lab (Si-530 series) High-End Fox Xpresso (FVXO-PC73BR series) Abracon s Advantage: 10MHz to 1.50GHz frequency availability vs. competition ( < 1.35GHz) Lower Cost basis Available through Distribution starting May-2012
