Happy Dollars Sunny Kellerman passed around an article that was in the Independent previously about William Knuttinen's Escape Room. William Knuttinen went to the Big Island of Hawaii, and his dad donated his timeshare to him. He also volunteered about 3 hours to a timeshare talk to learn about what could be done with a timeshare. He is also happy to share that the Escape Room is open again. Program Sunny Kellerman discussed the Rotary Foundation, showing a short video, discussing the 6 areas of service, talking about grants, updating. It was inspiring! Rotary appreciates the members and invites members to support the Foundation. It made one feel proud to be a Rotarian! The Rotary Foundation's work is primarily in 3 areas: Polio Eradication, International Understanding through Rotary Peace Centers and Peace Fellowships, and grants for international and community projects. Half of the money contributed to the Rotary Foundation comes back to the districts and clubs for community projects. Under new regulations, clubs can now also use some of that money for international projects. Our club has benefited during the last 2 years through grants for the School Gardens Project last year and Volunteer Center's water catchment project this year. We have also contributed significantly to the effort to End Polio through money raised at our annual End Polio receptions. For example, last year we contributed $3,500 and this year $2,500. One way to make your contribution to the Annual Fund is by purchasing or selling Cruise Raffle tickets. Tickets are now available, and she and Linda Telaak are distributing books of 10 each to every member of the club. Each ticket is $10. The Rotary Foundation is recognized as one of the 10 most effective and efficient non-profit organizations world-wide. Raffle Kate Watson won the 50-50 Raffle of $25.00 (again). Attendance We had 23 of 33 active members in attendance, or 70%.
