This fall Huntsville is proud to host our 40th annual model show. Attached is a flyer for the contest, and details on our special category designed to honor our anniversary - It Ain t Old, It s Vintage - an out of the box competition featuring kits released in or before 1976. We re trying recreate what a 1976 contest table would look like - minus the smell of Testors tube glue and those annoying thumbprints in the plastic. So please let your clubs know about the show, and we hope to see you there. DRAGON 1/35 Ferdinand First Issue Built By Jack Bruno Lately I've been doing several Winter Scheme kits and I had this one on the bench for a while. One of the FB groups had a slew of pictures and one of them featured a combat veteran Ferdinand in whitewash. That sealed it for me. The kit was built out of the box with the exception of some netting and a canvas gun cover. Never be intimidated by the tracks. They were very easy and some of the best I've worked with. For the base color it was Dark Yellow, several shades, with Vallejo "stencil" white used as the winter wash. Gloss followed and several oil washes were applied to give it some ZING. Decals were from the spares box. Migments were applied and turned out better than I expected. There you have it...another Winter Schemed jewel from Jack ;) 2

IT REALLY EXISTS By Mike Moore Ok, so at the last meeting Ed Sunder was kind enough to grace us with wonderful descriptions of all the museums that he and his family visited while in Seattle on their vacation. You may or may not know that I've spent a good bit of time in the area, both because I really like the Pacific Northwest and because my folks retired on Vashon Island in Puget Sound, a short 20 minute ferry trip from West Seattle. I was bothered by Ed's comment that he wasn't convinced that Mt Rainier really exists. I know it does. I've seen it with my own eyes. I've slid down it on inner tubes. I've dug and slept in snow caves on it. It's real! So, when I was back there over the weekend, I took this picture from the back deck of my folks house. Ok, so it's a picture of the clouds that generally obscure where "The Mountain" (as locals refer to it) is. But it's real Ed, I swear it! 11
FROM EMANUEL S ROVING- LENS Emanuel sent these snapshots that he took from a church parking lot at Tunnel Boulevard and Shallowford Road. Emanuel shows us it pays to have your camera with you 12
Tom Gaston sent me these photos of a project he has completed recently. He just finished another diorama for Dalton College. This one depicts a Huey landing troops at a LZ in Vietnam circa 68. 13
