After his presentation, we will have a bingo night. We are asking all members to bring a $4.00 to $5.00 wrapped white elephant item related to our club (token, medal, coin, book, shirt, etc). You will be given a bingo card in exchange for your white elephant. Bring a handful of your own pennies to use as bingo markers. (Plenty of us would be willing to trade you for your wheat or Indian head pennies!) The white elephants will be the bingo prizes. For our August club picnic, we need volunteers to come a little early to bury the tokens in the sand for the metal detecting activity, we need 3 members to volunteer to bring their barbecues, and we need all members to bring a pot luck item. Last name A to L bring a salad or chips and last name M to Z bring dessert or rolls. Also, please bring your own meat to barbecue and your own plates/utensils. The club will provide water, soda, and condiments. Bring your metal detector for the token search. Detectors will be available to borrow if you can t bring one. News Salt Lake Coin and Token Show Two wonderful displays about buffalos and fractional currency Young girl drawing for raffle winner. The coin and token show was very busy Friday morning. Thank you for everyone that volunteered and helped setting up and running the show. The World Fair of Money is Aug. 9th - 13th in Anaheim The ANA is also taking the numismatic classes to Virginia. Bullion Gold: $1321.60 +$22.3 - Silver: $19.62 +1.88 Brexit caused a spike in silver and gold, but came back down.
Price changes from the Red Book 2016 to 2017 While at the library I had the opportunity to compare the 2016 and 2017 Red Books. The format is still the same with additional coins from the past year like the America the Beautiful Quarters and Commemoritives. Prices changes that I noticed were in various types of coins but mostly in the silver, gold and bullion areas. They were down due to the lower spot prices of precious metals. Key-dates and other expensive coins had mixed results many staying the same, a few increased and some decreased. The modern clad coins have mostly stayed the same, with most key dates at higher prices. With bullion prices going up this year it will be interesting to see how next year's Red Book will change.
