Why use the DIGITAL BASS PROCESSOR? The Planet Audi PA300 DIGITAL BASS PROCESSOR is a specialized mbile audi cmpnent designed t restre and enhance the bass frequencies present in yur music. It is like an acustic magnifying lens. The flexible cntrl system permits yu t identify the bass frequency as a "center frequency" arund which maximum enhancement will ccur. This is similar t the central frequency selected in a parametric equalizer. The range f frequencies enhanced can be very narrw r relatively wide. By using the "Effect Range" cntrl yu can decide if yu want a particular bass frequency t punch much harder than usual r a wider range f frequencies t be bsted. Abut the built-in PWM Subsnic Filter Any device that increases the level f the deep bass can increase the rumble and incur the risk f damaging yur speaker system. That's why we decided t include a PWM Subsnic Filter in the PA300. Generally, setting this filter t 33Hz (which will eliminate frequencies belw 33Hz) will fter prtectin fr mst speaker systems. Yu may als want t experiment and set the Subsnic filter t a higher frequency, as this smetimes has the effect f making the sund luder and cleaner. Where d I place the PA300 in my mbile audi system? The PA300 is placed in a mbile sund system AFTER the audi surce (like a head unit) and AHEAD f any crssvers, equalizers r amplifiers. Please see the example n page 7 f this user's manual. Installatin Chse a munting lcatin where the unit will nt distract r therwise interfere with the driver's ability t cntrl the vehicle. Use nly the installatin parts and hardware prvided with the unit t ensure prper installatin. Using ther parts can cause malfunctin and pssible damage t this prduct. Avid installing the unit in a lcatin which is subject t high temperatures, direct sunlight, ht air frm such surces as heaters r exhaust lines, r where it will be subject t cntact with dust, dirt, misture r excessive vibratin. IMPORTANT: Befre yu cnnect this unit t yur audi system... The vlume cntrl n the PA300 determines the utput vltage f the device. In rder t avid damaging yur audi equipment, yu must ensure that the setting yu have selected is within the acceptable input vltage range f that device. If the utput level is set t high, yu may damage the input stage f the amp r ther device. Als, even if the amplifier can handle it, the bass bst may be great enugh t cause high bass distrtin which can damage yur speakers. If yu have any dubts, always select a lwer level first and see if the bass enhancement yu achieve is enugh - yu can always increase it mre. This unit features balanced RCA (line level) inputs. This circuitry allws it t handle very high input Signal vltages up t 15V rms) but still minimize induced nise. Its basic functin is t bst the vltage level f the bass frequency range yu have selected. Yu set the utput level using the 4-psitin Bass Output Cntrl switch n the frnt panel. The maximum utput level the PA300 can prduce is 10V rms. PA300 User s Manual - page 2 PA300 User's Manual - page 3

In particular, hwever, yu shuld make sure the grund cnnectin is very secure, nt t lng, and made f a heavy gauge wire. This will help ensure that the PA300's bass enhancement activities d nt intrduce engine r alternatr nise int yur audi signal. KNOB ILLUMINATION The PA300 is designed t be turned n and ff remtely using the REMOTE pwer cnnectin. When the head unit r ther triggering device is turned n, the PA300's three knbs will be illuminated. Pwer and Remte Level Cntrl cnnectins Please nte that this unit cntains an internal ON/OFF switch, which is activated when the head unit is turned n. Fr this reasn, in rder t use this crssver, yur head unit must have a remte-turn n lead. Audi cnnectins Always install immediately after the audi surce unit, ahead f all ther audi cmpnents such as equalizers, crssvers and amplifiers. The systems shwn belw is an example - yur system may vary. Always use high-quality cables fr best audi results. PA300 Remte Cntrl 100m~I'!
