14 Manuscript Boxes Processed: May, 1967 Accession Number 19 By: PCG The papers of George Lutzai were deposited with the Labor History Archives in Oct.,1961 and March, 1965 by George Lutzai. George Lutzai was a member of UAW Local 314 (Long Manufacturing Co., Detroit, and served as a delegate to some UAW Conventions. The George Lutzai Collection covers the period from 1919 to 1965.

-2- Description of Series Series I USSR BOXES 1 & 2 This series contains communist literature, material on the Revolution, Lenin, Stalin and labor in the USSR, often from a radical point of view. For example, among the books and magazines are "the Russian Revolution" by the Socialist Party of Canada and "the Crushing of the Russian Revolution" by the anarchist Emma Goldman. Box 2 contains books on the USSR. Series II Boxes 3-5 The material in this series is alphabetically arranged by topic or title and is entirely of an anti-religious nature. Included are humanist, rationalist and free-thought journals and periodicals from the 1950's and 1960's. In addition, there are anti-religious pamphlets and booklets. Box 5 contains books on religious problems. Series III Boxes 6-8 Contained in this series are alphabetically arranged files on a great variety of topics including the ACLU, Ralph Chaplin's prison poems, Father Coughlin's lectures on social justice (1935), Max Eastman's address to the jury in the Masses trial (1918), GM, health, homeowners ordinance, an economic program for the auto workers (1937) and senior citizens. Series IV Periodicals and Newspapers Boxes 9-11 This series is broken down into two parts: labor publications and miscellaneous publication. The labor publications are mainly from the 1960's and are alphabetically arranged by title, and include "AFL-CIO News," "Catholic Worker," "Detroit Labor News," "UAW Solidarity," and "WBF Solidarity." The miscellaneous pub1ications, also mainly from the 1960's includes "Civil Liberties," "Michigan Democrat," "New Leader," "The Progressive" and "Senior Citizens News." Series V Boxes 12-14 Box 12 contains 96 "Little Blue " (literary philosophical and scientific works.) Boxes 13 and 14 contain literary works and volumes on philosophy, science, grammar and World War I.
