Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre is operated in partnership with the City of Delta and the volunteers of the Kennedy Seniors Society. All those 50+ are invited to visit Kennedy Seniors Recreation Centre. Take a tour and meet our volunteers and staff to discover the wide range of recreation and leisure opportunities available. Please register in person by cheque, cash or debit, during regular office hours. Guest Passes Guest passes can be purchased for $5/day for those who are not members. This guest pass will allow for the attendance at one fitness class or two drop in classes on the day of purchase. Registered Programs: Instructional Programs require preregistration. Please see descriptions for fees. Registration can be done in person at the Customer Service Desk. Cancelled Programs: One week before classes begin we check registration numbers and decide if the class will run. Be sure to register early to avoid disappointment. Occasional program changes may occur. Notification will be provided prior to any change. Refund Policy: If a member can no longer attend an instructional program due to a medical issue, a pro-rated refund may be requested. Fitness Programs: Fitness programs require Membership and Fitness Punch Cards. Punch cards can be purchased at the Customer Service Desk for $40 for 10 sessions. Drop-in Activities: Drop-in classes require Membership and Drop In Punch Cards. Drop-in Punch Cards can be purchased at the Customer Service Desk for $3.50 for 10 sessions. Group Activities: Group activities include the Workshop, Snooker Room, Photography Interest Group, Delta Diggers and Fraser Valley Quilting. Please see descriptions for fees. 2 P a g e

FITNESS All programs require a Fitness Punch Card *Reminder: please leave your classes promptly to allow for set up of the next class Fun & Fitness A fun fitness class for men and women involving cardio, muscular strength, endurance and flexibility training, modified to your needs. Dates: Tu/Th Sep 4-Dec 13 Time: 9-10 am Fit & Functional Designed for those using a walking aid. Improve mobility, range of motion, balance, flexibility and coordination. Dates: Tu/Th Sep 4-Dec 13 Time: 12:30-1:15 pm Gentle Yoga Improve your flexibility, mobility, strength and stability with this beginner-friendly class, suitable for all levels. Date: M Sep 10-Dec 17 Time: 11:30 am-12:30 pm Hatha Yoga These stretching exercises will increase your flexibility and breathing techniques. Conclude the class with total relaxation. Dates: M/W Sep 5-Dec 17 Time: 7:30-8:30 pm Joint Works This class is intended for those with arthritis or limited mobility. It has been specially designed and sanctioned by the Canadian Arthritis Society. Date: Tu/Th Sep 4-Dec 13 Time: 11:30 am-12:15 pm Strength & Conditioning This is a small group fitness class designed to build muscular strength and endurance in the older adult. This class has a weight training and functional movement focus. Date: W Sep 5-Dec 12 Time: 6:15-7:15pm Date: Sa Sep 15-Dec 15 Time: 9-10am Tai Chi This gentle, ancient Chinese martial art is an easy-to-learn moving meditation that helps to improve balance, body awareness and flexibility. Yin Yoga This slow paced Yoga practice is the perfect way to balance your more active physical activities. Yin Yoga poses provide gentle but consistent stimulation to the connective tissues, long-term health and flexibility of the joints, recharges the energetic system of the body and naturally draws the mind inward to a relaxed, meditative state. Dates: Sa Sep 15-Dec 15 Time: 10-11am Zumba Gold Zumba Gold is a fun, Latin dance-based workout that is great for older adults, anyone new to fitness, and those wanting a lower impact, slightly modified Zumba class. We will learn basic cords and strumming techniques. No music reading or experience required. Members then read the novel and meet a month later to discuss. 1 st W 11-12 pm Lounge Canasta Similar to rummy, Canasta is a fun and enjoyable matching card game using two decks of cards and four jokers. Players attempt to create bonds using cards of the same rank and go out by discarding all of the cards in their hands. M 1-4 pm Activity Room Card Making This popular craft combines numerous art forms to make personalized greeting cards. Members have a wide variety of experience and enjoy sharing ideas and assisting each other. W 9:30 am-12 pm Multi-Purpose Room Caregivers Support Group This informal group is open to all caregivers who are providing care to an adult family member or friend. Information and linking to resources in the community are also offered. Cost: 3 rd W 6:30-8:30 pm Millennium Room Free Carpet Bowling This popular, year-round activity is a team sport played on a special carpet using weighted balls. The goal of the game is to roll your bowls closer to the jack than the opposing team, made all the more challenging because the bowls always curve towards their heavier side. Days/Time: W/F 9:15 am-12 pm Ceramics Drop In Begin by purchasing your own greenware and supplies, and then let your imagination be your guide as you paint your own unique piece. All levels are welcome. Th 6:30-9:30 pm F 10-12 pm Clutter Busters Get to know people through the process of getting rid of 'stuff'. Stories about your struggles are encouraged and are often hilarious. A commitment to report on MOST Mondays is required. Colouring for Adults Colour your way into a relaxing and satisfying pastime. Bring your own books and pencils. M 2-4 pm Café Contract Bridge Join us for a game of social bridge. Contract bridge is a trick-taking card game using a standard 52-card deck. All skill levels are welcome; please come with a partner. W 6:30-10 pm Crafty Ladies This friendly group meets weekly to share ideas and patterns to knit and crochet, and also to help anyone with their projects. Tu 1-3 pm Lounge Mah Jong Join in and play this intriguing traditional Chinese board game. New players always welcome. F 1-3:45 pm Multi-purpose Room Pickleball This indoor racquet sport is a fusion of tennis and badminton, using a whiffle ball and an enlarged ping pong paddle. All equipment is provided. Days/Times: M 1-5 pm Tu 1:30-3:45 pm Th 1:30-5 pm Sa 1:30-3:45 pm Poker Develop strategies that may help you win in this age-old game of skill and chance. Days/Times: W/F 12:15-3:45 pm Activity Room Cribbage This popular card game involves playing and grouping cards in combinations to win points, using a pegged board for scoring. Come out to cribbage and try to meet or beat a 28 hand. W 6:45-9 pm Activity Room Guitar Drop In Join us for an informal opportunity to practice guitar. Some experience required to play with the group. Th 10-11:30 am Activity Room Jammers Join local musicians as they come together to share their talents. Dancing, music and great friends are part of this fun time; or just come and listen. Scrabble Join the Scrabble group and wordsmith your way to fun. Meet new people and use your brain power. Dates: M 6:45-8:30 pm Stitching Group This group meets monthly for stitching and chatting with people of similar interests. If you enjoy cross-stitching and other needle arts, including knitting and crocheting, bring in your projects - we'd love to see them. Join us on the fourth Thursday of each month. Table Tennis This is similar to tennis, but on a smaller, indoor scale. Come and enjoy some friendly competition and great exercise no experience necessary. Tables, paddles, balls and nets are provided. Your agility, fitness and strategy will improve with play. This weekly time offers you a quiet place to paint and develop your skills. Th 1-4 pm Women s Friendship Group The focus of this group is to introduce ethnic women of South Asian origin to our centre. Group activities include discussion, guest speakers and social interaction with other members. We will interpret if required, everyone is welcome! Tu 12:30-2:30 pm Multi-Purpose Room GROUP ACTIVITIES Delta Diggers Garden Club The Delta Diggers meet monthly from February to November. Members bring their flowers and vegetables to display and judging. Cost: 3 rd Th 7:30-9:30 pm Cafeteria $15/year + member drop in Fraser Valley Quilters Guild (FVQG) The Fraser Valley Quilters meet each month to bring ideas and learning experiences to the members by way of workshops, guest speakers, and demonstrations. Cost: 2 nd Tu 9 am-9 pm Main Hall FVQG and Kennedy Membership (Drop In Punch Card also required) Photography Interest Group We explore various subjects put forward by participants and critique images submitted by participants.
