Key projects Coal - Blakefield south longwall In 2010, Ampcontrol led the world in the design and delivery of the first 11kV armoured face conveyor electrics for the Blakefield South longwall in the Australian Hunter Valley. This turn key solution re-defined what the industry thought was possible and pushed the boundaries of electrical engineering at the coal face. Ampcontrol was awarded an Australian Engineering Excellence award for their innovative approach to longwall electrics. Industrial / commercial Hard Rock - Botswana Diamond Mine Ampcontrol member company Austech, commissioned a refrigerant leak detection system for a large commercial complex which included a 44 storey tower with cooling plants. The system uses infrared gas detectors which are designed to accurately detect the target gases they are specifically tuned to, eliminating false readings. A unique SCADA system was also designed to connect the refrigerant system with an existing carpark carbon monoxide monitoring system to create a single, comprehensive monitoring station. Ampcontrol have been supporting Botswana s largest diamond mining project, Debswana Jwaneng, since 2012. From on ground service support through to cable maintenance and electrical field services, we have been on hand to ensure the smooth operation of the electrical distribution equipment to all mechanical shovels and drill rigs on site. Providing local support and service is part of Ampcontrol s customer commitment, to be where our customers need us, wherever they may be in the world.

Key projects Renewables - Solar installation Ampcontrol successfully designed and manufactured 117 power conversion skids for two solar farm projects in NSW, Australia. The identical units house control panels, inverters and a transformer. They are a critical part of the power infrastructure, gathering energy from the photo-voltaic panels and delivering it into a substation. The project successfully demonstrated Ampcontrol s ability to employ large scale manufacturing principles along with project and product engineering expertise to ensure the units were fit for purpose. INFRASTRUCTURE - 132Kv transportable substation Tunnelling - Brisbane Airport link We built Australia s first emergency response mobile substation for use on the NSW power utilities network. The 132kV substation consists of two road registered Special Purpose Vehicles that can be quickly transported to provide emergency and temporary load support to reenergise the power network in the event of catastrophic failure of onsite equipment. This first of its kind solution enables the power utility to restore supply to homes and businesses within 24 48 hours of major equipment failures such as transformer, switchgear or cable damage. Ampcontrol supplied temporary power infrastructure for the 6.7km Brisbane Airport Link. This complex project enabled us to demonstrate our skills in managing complex projects. In addition to the modular electrical systems and equipment to power the TBM, Ampcontrol also carried out the complete electrical distribution system design, ongoing HV load flow and protection studies, along with commissioning of equipment onsite to ensure correct operation and minimal down time for the project.
