Description: The children will be divided into two relay teams and lined up against one wall. On the other side of the room, there will be pictures on the floor. Each child will pick one up and race it back to the other side of the room. Materials Needed: For this activity you will need this help sheet, a watch or stopwatch (optional), and several sets of the Do Your Best Relay/Lesson 4 printouts from your Lesson Materials CD-ROM. To introduce the activity say: 1. Who has ever run a relay race? 2. I love relay races because I like to have fun and do the best I can. 3. Today, we re going to run a relay race, so I m going to start by dividing you into teams. 4. Okay, now line up against this wall. 5. Do you see the pictures on the floor over there? (Yes.) 6. When it s your turn to go, you ll run to the other side of the room, grab a picture and bring it back to your team. 7. As soon as you get back to your team, the next person in line will go. 8. Description: The children will take turns throwing beanbags to try to hit the bulls-eye that has been placed slightly out of their reach. Materials Needed: For this activity you will need this help sheet, beanbags, a strip of masking tape, some type of prize for each child, and the Keep Your Eye On The Wall/Lesson 4 printout from your Lesson Materials CD-ROM. Note: You could also use crumpled up paper or a ball if you do not have beanbags. # 1 Note: For optional background music, set your CD player to repeat track 1 on your Upside Down Town Jr. Soundtrack CD. Do Your Best Puppet Show God Wants Me To Do My Best Purpose: This activity will let the children recall the Bible Story by acting it out. Description: The children will each make a puppet and glue it to a large craft stick. They will then use the puppet to act out the Bible Story in order to remember the lesson for the day. Materials Needed: For this activity you will need this help sheet, large craft sticks, glue, crayons or markers, and the Character Puppets/Lesson 4 printouts from your Lesson Materials CD-ROM. Note: Consider cutting out the puppet pieces from the printouts ahead of time. # 1 Note: For optional background music, set your CD player to repeat track 1 on your Upside Down Town Jr. Soundtrack CD. Adam and Eve had two sons: Cain and Abel. Abel was a shepherd. He took care of sheep. Can you hold up your Abel puppet and your sheep puppet? Great! Cain was a farmer. He grew fruits and vegetables. Can you hold up your Cain puppet and your fruits and vegetables puppet? Good job! One day, Cain and Abel went before God and gave gifts to Him. Who remembers what Cain gave? (Fruits and vegetables.) That s right! Can you put your vegetable puppet in front of you like you are giving it to God? Abel brought God the very best sheep from his flock. Can you put your sheep puppet down in front of you? Great! God was very happy with Abel s gift because Abel brought the very best he had to God. God wasn t so happy with Cain s gift. Cain didn t bring the very best of the fruit and vegetables he had grown. God asks us to do our very best and Cain did not do his best or give his very best to God. After the activity say: 1. 2. Description: The children will work to match up pictures from the Bible Story in order to review the lesson. Materials needed: For this activity, you will need this help sheet, wooden clothes pins, and the Make A Match/ Lesson 4 printouts from your Lesson Materials CD-ROM. Note: Cut out and glue the Mini Make A Match pictures onto the wooden clothes pins before your class begins. # 1 Note: For optional background music, set your CD player to repeat track 1 on your Upside Down Town Jr. Soundtrack CD. To introduce the activity say: 1. Who can tell me what we are learning today? (God Wants Me To Do My Best.) 2. That s right! Abel brought the very best firstborn lamb from his flock of sheep. Picture 4 (God accepts Abel s gift) 1. God accepted Abel s gift because Abel brought the very best he had. 2. God wants us to do our best and that s what Abel did when he brought his best lamb. Picture 5 (God doesn t accept Cain s gift) 1. God didn t accept Cain s gift because Cain just brought some of his crop. 2. He didn t pick out the very best fruits and vegetables for God. 3. If you are giving a gift, it should be the very best gift that you can give. 4. It doesn t have to be the most expensive, just the best you can do. 5. Description: The children will try to jump across two lines, make a tower as tall as they are, and carry some balls across the room. Though they may not be able to do each task, they should do their best at trying to do the task. Materials Needed: For this activity you will need this help sheet, tape, blocks or empty shoe or cereal boxes, and four or five classroom balls. Note: Place the lines where the children can t get from one to the other in one jump. To introduce the activity say: 1. Are you ready to try your best at some tasks? 2. Great! I have three things I want you to do. 3. First, we are going to try to jump from this line to this line. 4. Then, we are going to build a tower as tall as ourselves with these blocks. 5.
