Cabinet hardware and accessories. 5. Steel support tubes. 6. Shop finishing of woodwork of hardwood edges. B. Related Sections: 1. Section 012300 Alternates, for Deduct Alternate-4. C. Interior architectural woodwork includes wood furring, blocking, shims, and hanging strips unless concealed within other construction before woodwork installation. D. Woodwork Fabricator and Installer shall also perform Work in Section 083323 Overhead Coiling Doors at MW-3 as part of Contract 1-A. 1.2 SUBMITTALS A. Product Data: For cabinet hardware, accessories, and grilles pertaining to architectural woodwork. B. Shop Drawings: Show location of each item, dimensioned plans and elevations, large-scale details, attachment devices, and other components. C. Samples: 1. Plastic-laminates, for each type, color, pattern, and surface finish. 2. 12 inch square section of each type of countertop with finished hardwood edges. D. Woodwork Quality Standard Compliance Certificates: AWI Quality Certification Program certificates. 1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Installer Qualifications: Fabricator of woodwork. B. Quality Standard: Unless otherwise indicated, comply with AWI's "Architectural Woodwork Quality Standards. 1. Provide AWI Quality Certification Program labels and certificates for woodwork. 1.4 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Environmental Limitations: Do not deliver or install woodwork until building is enclosed, wet Work is complete, and HVAC system is operating and maintaining temperature and relative humidity at occupancy levels during the remainder of the construction period. For metal fabrications exposed to view in completed Work, provide materials without seam marks, roller marks, rolled trade names, or blemishes. 1. Standard Duty (Grade 1, Grade 2, and Grade 3): Side mounted and extending under bottom edge of drawer; full-extension type; zinc-plated stee with polymer rollers. F. 2.5 FABRICATION A. General: Complete fabrication to maximum extent possible before shipment to Project site. Where necessary for fitting at site, provide allowance for scribing, trimming, and fitting. 1. Interior Woodwork Grade: Custom. 2. Shop cut openings to maximum extent possible. Sand edges of cutouts to remove splinters and burrs. Seal edges of openings in countertops with a coat of varnish. B. Plastic-Laminate Cabinets (MW-5): 1. AWI Type of Cabinet Construction: Flush overlay, unless otherwise indicated. 2. Laminate Cladding for Exposed Surfaces: High-pressure decorative laminate as follows: a. Horizontal Surfaces Other Than Tops: Grade HGS. b. Postformed Surfaces: Grade HGP. c. Vertical Surfaces: Grade VGS. d. Edges: PVC edge banding, 0.12 inch thick, matching laminate in color, pattern, and finish. 3. Materials for Semiexposed Surfaces Other Than Drawer Bodies: Thermoset decorative panels. 4. Drawer Sides and Backs: Thermoset decorative panels. 5. Drawer Bottoms: Thermoset decorative panels. 6. Colors, Patterns, and Finishes: As selected by Architect from laminate manufacturer's full range of colors, patterns, and finishes. C. Plastic-Laminate Countertops: Provide countertops with backsplashes unless indicated otherwise. 1. High-Pressure Decorative Laminate Grade: HGS. 2. Colors, Patterns, and Finishes: As selected by Architect from laminate manufacturer's full range of colors, patterns, and finishes. 3. Edge Treatment: Same as laminate cladding on horizontal surfaces or hardware edges where indicated on Drawings. 4. Core Material at Sinks: MDF-2. D. Window Sills (MW-4): Single piece construction unless recommended otherwise by manufacturer. 1. Substrate: MDF-2. 2. Thickness: 3/4 inch thick unless indicated otherwise. 3. Ease exposed edges. 4. Square corners. 5. Seal perimeter joint where stool abuts vertical surface. a. Sealant specified in Section 079200. 2.6 SHOP FINISHING A. Finish architectural woodwork at fabrication shop. Defer only final touchup, cleaning, and polishing until after installation. B. Backpriming: Apply 1 coat of sealer or primer, compatible with finish coats, to concealed surfaces of woodwork. Apply 2 coats to back of paneling. C. Transparent Finish: Apply the following finish to hardwood edges where indicated. 1. Grade: Custom. 2. AWI Finish System: Conversion varnish. 3. Staining: None required. 4. Sheen: Satin, 31 to 45 gloss units measured on 60-degree gloss meter per ASTM D523, unless indicated otherwise. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION A. Before installation, condition woodwork to average prevailing humidity conditions in installation areas. Examine shop-fabricated Work for completion and complete Work as required, including removal of packing and backpriming. B. Grade: Install woodwork to comply with requirements for the same grade specified in Part 2 for fabrication of type of woodwork involved. C. Install woodwork level, plumb, true, and straight to a tolerance of 1/8 inch in 96 inches. Shim as required with concealed shims. D. Scribe and cut woodwork to fit adjoining Work, refinish cut surfaces, and repair damaged finish at cuts. E. Anchor woodwork to anchors or blocking built in or directly attached to substrates. Secure with countersunk, concealed fasteners and blind nailing as required for complete installation. Use fine finishing nails for exposed fastening, countersunk and filled flush with woodwork and matching final finish if transparent finish is indicated. F. Cabinets: Install without distortion so doors and drawers fit openings properly and are accurately aligned. Adjust hardware to center doors and drawers in openings and to provide unencumbered operation. 1. Fasten wall cabinets through back, near top and bottom, at ends and not more than 16 inches on center with fasteners appropriate for anchoring to structure. G. Countertops: Anchor securely by screwing through corner blocks of base cabinets or other supports into underside of countertop. 1. Install countertops with no more than 1/8 inch in 96 inch sag, bow, or other variation from a straight line. 2. Secure backsplashes to tops with concealed metal brackets at 16 inches on center. 3.
