Cutting ~ Note: Easy Angle and Companion Angle rulers are required. (You may substitute the Nifty Notions Half Square ruler for the Easy Angle and the Nifty Notions Quarter Square ruler for the Companion Angle.) Cut Companion Angle triangles from single layer of fabric. All seams are ¼. WOF designates the width of fabric from selvedge to selvedge. The + after a measurement in the cutting instructions means cut half way between the number indicated and the next larger 1/8 th inch mark on your ruler (1/16 th inch larger). If you need a 3 ¼ + strip, line up your fabric halfway between the 3 ¼ mark on your ruler and the 3 3/8 mark and then cut. For a 1 7/8 + strip, line up your fabric halfway between the 1 7/8 mark on your ruler and the mark. Background: Cut 5 strips WOF. From strips, cut 8 5 Companion Angle triangles. Cut 4 strips WOF. From strips, cut 4 4 x 10 rectangles and 4 4 x 6 rectangles. Cut 1 3 strip WOF. From strip, cut 4 3 Easy Angle triangles and 1 x 3 rectangles. Cut 8 strips WOF. From strips, cut 4 x 8 rectangles and 8 Companion Angle triangles. Cut 4 1 strips WOF. From strips, cut 80 1 Companion Angle triangles. Green Print: Cut 1 6 strip WOF. From strip, cut 8 6 Easy Angle triangles. Cut 1 3 strip WOF. From strip, cut 1 3 square. Trim strip to 3 ¼ +. Cut 3 ¼ + strips WOF. From all 3 ¼ + strips, cut 3 3 ¼ + squares. Cut strips WOF. From strips, cut x 15 rectangles and x 18 rectangles. Teal Tone on Tone: Cut 1 strip WOF. From strip, cut 8 Companion Angle triangles and 8 Easy Angle triangles. Cut 1 7/8 + strips WOF. From strips, cut 3 1 7/8 + squares. Piecing the Center Block 18 unfinished ~ 1. Sew 3 Background and Peach/Green Print Easy Angle triangles together to make a square. Make 4. Sew a x 3 Peach Tone on Tone rectangle to the top of the square. Sew a x 5 Peach Tone on Tone rectangle to the left side of the square. Make 4 of Unit A.. Place x 3 Background rectangles right sides together and trim corner using the Easy Angle ruler as shown. (Place flat tip of Easy Angle ruler along lower right side of rectangle and bottom of ruler even with bottom of rectangle. Trim upper right corner along diagonal edge of ruler as indicated by arrow.) Repeat 3 more times on x 3 Background rectangles for a total of 8 trimmed rectangles. Unit A Trim 3. Sew a Teal Easy Angle triangle to each trimmed Background rectangle as shown. You should have 4 of each diagram. Sew a Background square to one set of 4 pieced rectangles (Unit B) and sew a x 3 Background rectangle to the other set of 4 pieced rectangles (Unit C). Unit B Unit C 4. Sew a Unit B to the top of a Unit A. Sew a Unit C to the left side of Unit A. Make 4 of Unit D. Unit D 5. Arrange Background, Teal Tone on Tone, and Green Tone on Tone Companion Angle triangles and a 5/8 Peach/Green Print Unit E

square as shown. Sew together in diagonal rows. Sew rows together to make Unit E. Make 4. 6. Arrange a 3 Green Print square and Units D and E as shown for block. Sew together in rows. Sew rows together. Sew a x 15 Green Print rectangle to opposite sides of block. Sew a x 18 Green Print rectangle to the top and bottom of the block. Piecing the Feather Surround 4 square unfinished ~ 7. Arrange pieces for one feather unit as shown. Sections are divided and numbered. You will sew the units together by sections. All outer edges of pieced sections A and B and the adjacent edges of Unit C are bias. Be careful when sewing and pressing. Use Easy Angles for 1A sections 1A and 1B. Use 1 Companion Angles for sections A and B. Unit A Unit B 1B A Unit C B 8. Sections 1A and 1B: Sew Background and Green Tone on Tone Easy Angle triangles together. Sew completed sections 1A and 1B to 6 Green Print Easy Angle triangles. 9. Sections A and B: Place x 4 Peach Tone on Tone rectangles right sides Tri together. Trim corners as shown. (Place flat tip of Easy Angle ruler along lower right side of rectangle and bottom of ruler even with bottom of rectangle. Trim upper right corner along diagonal edge of ruler as indicated by arrow. Turn trimmed rectangle so that trimmed corner is now in the lower left position as shown in diagram. Repeat trim instructions on upper right corner.) Repeat process for remaining 6 x 4 Peach Tone on Tone rectangles. Tri 10. Sew 1 Background, Green Tone on Tone, and Peach Tone on Tone Companion Angle triangles and trimmed Peach Tone on Tone rectangles together. If your section is too large, re-sew each seam with a seam that is 1- threads larger than a ¼ seam. Sew completed sections A and B to 6 Green Print Easy Angle triangles. You now have a Unit A and a Unit B.

11. Unit C: Sew a 5 Background Companion Angle triangle to a 6 1/8 Downton Abbey square as shown. Trim Background triangle even with edge of Downton Abbey square. Sew another 5 Background Companion Angle triangle to adjacent side. 1. Sew Unit A to Unit C. Press seam to Unit C. Sew Unit B to Unit C. Press seam to Unit C. 13. Repeat steps 7 1 to make a total of four feather units. Note: The diagram shown in step 7 makes the feathered section for the bottom of the quilt. Before sewing Unit C, you will need to turn the Downton Abbey square for each feathered section so that Downton Abbey is right side up when you sew everything together! 14. Sew a 4 x 6 Background rectangle to one side and a 4 x 10 Background rectangle to the adjacent side of a 6 Downton Abbey square as shown. Make 1 of each diagram. 15. Arrange feathered sections and pieced squares from step 14 around center block. Sew together in rows. Sew rows together. (Refer to quilt diagram on page 6.) 16. Sew a x 38 Background rectangle to opposite sides of the quilt center. Sew a x 4 Background rectangle to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Piecing the Outer Border 6 wide unfinished ~ 17. Arrange 3 ¼ + Green Print squares, 1 7/8 + x 3 ¼ + Peach Tone on Tone and Peach/Green Print rectangles, 1 7/8 + Teal Tone on Tone squares, and 1 Cream Print and Green Tone on Tone Companion Angle triangles, and 1 Cream Print Easy Angle triangles as shown for border sections below. (Use the 1 Cream Print Easy Angle triangles in the side border section on each end.) Sew together in diagonal rows. Sew rows together. Make of each diagram. Sew side borders on first with the Cream Print next to the quilt center. Sew top and bottom borders on next, again with the Cream Print next to the quilt center. Side Border Section

Top and Bottom Border Section 18. Arrange remaining pieces as shown for corner sections. Sew together in rows. Sew rows together. Make of each diagram. Trim Green Tone on Tone rectangle even with sides of corner units. Sew corners to quilt as indicated in quilt diagram. Corner 1 Corner 19.
