PRESIDENT'S COLUMN Mark Your Calendars! It s April now, and that can only mean one thing: National Coin Week is coming! (Although there is a well-dressed gentleman from some outfit called IRS telling me I have other things to do this month. It s probably not important.) Since this year marks the 50 th anniversary of the Kennedy half dollar, the American Numismatic Association has chosen a theme of community service, based on Kennedy s call for Americans to Ask what you can do for your country. ANA members are encouraged to volunteer for a non-profit organization in their community, and submit a video, or short article with a picture, documenting the experience. There are some sweet prizes for the entries judged to best promote their cause, and the spirit of service, so check out the details at https://www.money.org/numismaticevents/national-coin-week/member-volunteer-challenge.aspx. Speaking of serving a worthy cause, our coin show is only a few months away! Our ticket masters Harold Harrison and Pat Kelleher have issued a good chunk of the 4,000 tickets we had printed this year. Now it s time to turn in what you ve collected from your first round of sales (Remember, every 50 tickets you sell earns you 5 free incentive tickets for yourself). Already turned in your tickets? Then you ve got plenty of time to sell more! Harold and Pat will keep you stocked. Remember, ask not what your club can do for you Okay, it sounded better when JFK said it. Anyway, this well-dressed gentleman just won t go away, so I d better see what he wants. I may need to take a quick trip to the Cook Islands. Fortunately I don t have to be present to win that shiny MS-64 1881 S Morgan that we re doing a special raffle for this month. See you all at the meeting (unless I m visiting/hiding out in the Cook Islands). -Aaron Brown April April 2, 2014 Board Meeting @ 7:00p.m. April 9, 2014 General Meeting @ 7:00p.m. (1) Program Coins, Stars & Hollywood by Mark Garcia (2) Mini-Bourse Night April 23, 2014 General Meeting @ 7:00p.m. (1) Auction May May 7, 2014 Board Meeting @ 7:00p.m. May 14, 2014 General Meeting @ 7:00p.m. (1) Program Pigs on Coins by Lloyd Solomon (2) Mini-Bourse Night May 28, 2014 General Meeting @ 7:00p.m. (1) Auction Junior Activities Starting this month, Junior Coordinator Brandi Brown will be assisted by Sharyn Brown.
