THE REBEL YELL January 2018 The President s Letter Tri-State Rebels As best the old man can remember January 15 19, 2018 Twin Oaks Park, Elko, GA. Someone once told me I invented the word procrastinate. I thought about it for a few weeks and then replied that they might be right. I guess that s the only reason I have for not getting the President s Letter written earlier for January. However, when camping with The Tri-State Rebels it s the memories that count, as the words on paper are mainly for those unable to attend the musters. The muster at Twin Oaks RV Park in Elko, Georgia have memories that won t be forgotten, both personal and club. For example, why is it that a camper furnace only breaks down in the winter at 21 degrees and snowing? It also filled the camper with propane gas and we had to ventilate in that cold weather. That just goes to show you that no matter how well you plan your camping trips, things can go wrong and only GOD has control of the weather. Joyce and I hosted at Elko, with Charlie and Mary co-hosting and everyone else helped out with anything they could as Tri-State Rebels always do. Joyce made snowmen (out of wood) for the table center pieces. They each held a banner saying, HAPPY NEW YEAR Tri-State Rebels. They were really cute, thanks Joyce. We had 6 rigs brave the cold weather for this muster and all had a good time. On Saturday several treasurer hunting enthusiasts visited the big flee market in Perry, GA. Others just went shopping since it was too cold and windy for a campfire or outdoor games. For dinner we went to Yoder s Restaurant near Elko. Such outstanding food you ll ever have. Thanks to whoever suggested we go there. Sunday was just a stay in day since it was so cold. Joyce planned some excellent menus for the whole week. (If you have eggs for breakfast, then the whole day will be OK) On Wednesday we had covered dish and even though all of the food was good, I ll have to mention Joel s Pot Roast. It was really good. Thanks to everyone for the covered dishes. Some played Mexican Train several nights; I don t know who the big winner was. My thanks to Charlie and Keith for auditing the treasurer books which is a requirement prior to turn over to the new treasurer. All was OK. Our 2017

treasurer, Cosi, had already made the end of year treasurer report for SMART headquarters. During the business meeting we installed the new officers, John Bradberry for Vice President; and Diane Collier for Treasurer. Thank you for your support John and Diane. I also thank the other officers that keep the positions they held in 2017. We also voted to lower the amount provided to the host from $200 to $150 and to charge a minimum fee each muster of $5.00 per rig. These decisions were made to keep the club from running out of money. Members were also reminded that we are in charge of the games at the SE Regional in May. Diane Collier has volunteered to be in charge of that event so let s give her all our support. I also want to thank those who sold the raffle tickets. Thursday night we had dinner at the Carriage House. A great place with good food, but it sure was cold inside. All in all even with the cold, wind, and snow it was a very good January muster.
