Course Description: Art: 8 is designed to build on knowledge and skills developed in 6 th and 7 th grade. Course study will challenge students to develop skills with materials and develop personal visual expression in their art. This will be done through a variety of materials and methods. Students will further examine the language of art/design and visual criticism. Connections will also be made to art and artists from the past and present. Unit 1: Drawing: Potential Assignments: Drawing from life/still life, 1 &2 point Perspective, Portraits and Caricature, Landscapes, Scratchboard, Charcoal, Pen & Ink, Sketchbook studies & Teacher directed drawing lessons Unit Length: 6-10 weeks (2-3 assignments are part of this unit) Terms, definitions and functions of various tools and materials.
