3.User interface Main windw The main windw cntains several parts. There are these main sectins: main menu, tlbar, flight list, graph tab, flight descriptin tab, start page tab, flight prperties frame. The fllwing part f the manual explains hw t use the prgram. Fig. 2. AerbTec Altis Flight manager PC applicatin main windw Obtaining data Altis Flight manager is used t wrk with data frm AerbTec devices. There are several ways hw t get the data: Open file yu can lad a file that was saved by Altis Flight manager befre. This ptins is available in File->Open Altis v3 Yu can dwnlad the data frm Altis v3. Fr this, cnnect the USB adapter t PC, cnnect Altis v3 t the adapter and run Tls->Device and chse Altis v3. Press Read data buttn n the Altis v3 windw. After the data is dwnladed, yu can clse the windw and start t wrk with it. Altis v4 - Yu can dwnlad the data frm Altis v4. Cnnect Altis v3 t PC and run Tls->Device and chse Altis v4. Press Dwnlad data buttn n the Altis v4 windw. After the data is dwnladed, yu can clse the windw and start t wrk with it. Nte that all (als histrical) dwnladed data frm yur is available in the applicatin data flder. The exact lcatin in yur filesystem depends n yur perating system. Flight list Once yu laded the data yu can start examine the individual flights. There is a flight list n the left side AerbTec Altis v3 User Manual 4
f the screen. User can use this t selet the dwnladed flights, rename r remve them. This list allws yu t change flight and marker name and remved selected item frm the list. Fig. 3. Flight list Abut the flight Each flight can be characterized by sme statistical infrmatin. Infrmatin such as Flight length in secnds Sample time in secnds Max and min altitude in selected altitude units Max and min calculated vertical speed in selected altitude units F5J start altitude fr current flight are available in Fligth prperties (bttm left part f the windw). Fig. 4. Flight prperties frame Flight descriptin tab Flight descriptin tab serves t insert cmments t the selected flight r marker, set pilt name, airprt name and time when and where the flight was recrded. Fig. 5. Flight descriptin tab Graph tab The mst imprtant feature f the Altis Flight manager is the pssibility t view the flights in a graphical frm. The chsen flight is displayed in the Graph tab (Fig. 6). The graph displays hw the parameters changed ver time. Several measured parameters can be shwed in this graph by selecting them frm Graph menu r als frm graph tab itself. Each variable has its wn ax and clr. The fllwing parameters can be displayed n the graph: Altitude - altitude measured by Altis device Vari - vertical speed calculated frm altitude data Vltage - Altis device supply vltage Temperature - temperature measured by Altis device Thrttle In - thrttle in channel level measured by Altis device Thrttle Out - thrttle ut generated by Altis device (nly n Altis v4 mdel) Markers - markers fr specific event ccurred during flight The graph can be zmed in and ut r set t basic scale by buttns in tlbar r tl menu. When the Zm in functin is n, user can als use the middle muse buttn fr advanced graph zming and mving. When the middle buttn is pressed and user mves the muse, the graph mves while the muse wheel zms in and ut. The prgram als ffers a graph measuring functin available in the Tls menu r in the tlbar. When the functin is activated, user clicks n the graph at the chsen time and mves the cursr. There is a triangle cnnecting the graph pint at the start time and a graph pint at the cursr time. Time difference, altitude difference and average climbing are shwn n the graph. This is shwn in Fig. 7. AerbTec Altis v3 User Manual 6
Fig. 6 Graph tab When a flight is recrded, there may be sme parts in the beginning and in the end f the flight which are nt interesting fr the user r user wants t split the flight int tw r mre flights. User can discard these parts by using Trim Graph Start tl and Trim Graph End tl and split flight using Split Graph tl available in the tlbar and Tls menu. Fig 7. Measuring functin Each flight recrding begins in the reference altitude, which is always 0m. Hwever, user might knw the altitude the aircraft starts in. This altitude can be set in the graph by the Set Zer Altitude tl, which is als available in Tls menu and the tlbar. AerbTec Altis v3 User Manual 7
Vari filter Since the vari data is very nisy, there is a filtering feature available in Graph Vari Settings... Filter value can be selected manually. The filtered graph is shwn nline. The difference f the same flight with a different filter values is shwn in Fig. 9. Fig. 8. Cmparisn f vari signal filtered with different filter settings Hw t use vari filter Set the graph t shw altitude and vari. Chse an area where yu can measure the climbing rate preciselly engh. Read the value. In ur case, the average climbing rate in the selected area is 7,85m/s. Use vari filter t set apprximately 7,5m/s vari values in the same area. Flights Cmparer Fig. 9 Setting the apprpriate vari filter value. Smetimes user might wish t cmpare several different flights. It is pssible via Flight Cmparer functin available in Tls Flights Cmparer... User pens the file with saved flights and checks the checkbxes f the files t be cmpared. An example f such a cmparisn is shwn in Fig. 10. The graph can be AerbTec Altis v3 User Manual 8
zmed in and ut and mved using the middle muse buttn. The displayed graph can be exprted t an image r printed. Fig. 10. Flight cmparer Further wrk with data Altis Flight manager ffers several ways f data exprt, s yu can use the displayed graph in yur prefered way. Save file Altis Flight manager saves the data in its native frmat (.afr). It is available in File->Save Exprt data: available in File->Exprt HTML stres the graph as a html web page Image exprts the image t file. Varius frmats (png, jpg, gif, tif, png) are supprted. CSV file exprt in Cma separated value fr further prcessing in Micrsft Excel, Open ffice Calc r ther spreadsheet prcessrs. Vectr image exprts the image in a vectr file svg Facebk -sends the graph directly t yur facebk accunt. Internet cnnectin and facebk accunt details must be prvided. This functin is available by a facebk buttn in the bttm right crner f the Graph tab. (Fig. 6) AerbTec Altis v3 User Manual 9
Prgram settings Basic settings f the prgram are available in the Settings windw which can be fund in File Prgram Settings... User can chse preferred language, length units (meters, feets and yards) and the cmmunicatin prt where the Altis v3 device is cnnected. The buttn Search Device checks all available Cm prts and recmmends user prt with active AerbTec Altis v3 device. Altis v3 windw Fig. 11. Settings windw This windw cmmunicates directly with cnnected AerbTec Altis v3 device. User can chse this windw in Tls Device r in the tlbar. When pening the windw, the device shuld be cnnected; therwise it will nt be pened. During the launch, the settings f the device are laded and shwn in the windw. User can change the sampling time in the range frm 0.1 t 25.5s with step f 0.1s. The serial number f the device as well as firmware versin and actual memry usage are als shwn here. There are sme settings regarding cmpetitin rules. User can select altitude switch functin, time switch functin r F5J FAI cmpetitin settings. In sme cmpetitins it is nt allwed t switch the mtr n again during the flight. Hwever, it is desirable t have the pssibility t switch the mtr n again in an emergency. User can chse t enable this r nt. If enabled, the emergency switch n is recrded and can be shwn n the flight graph. User has three pssibilities t trigger the recrding f data. It can be triggered frm certain altitude, by RC signal r the recrding can be always n. Fig.12. Altis v3 windw User can read the settings frm Altis v3 device again and write the new settings t it. The recrded flight data can be read by buttn Read Data. After reading, the memry f the device can be erased t btain mre space fr new flights. Hwever, user can cntinue using the free memry fr new flights. AerbTec Altis v3 User Manual 10
