Black and white photography and color photography are emphasized through the use of digital cameras and Adobe Photoshop. Emphasis throughout the course will be placed on strengthening photo composition, manipulations, display and Photoshop techniques. Materials and Fee - 1 or 1 ½ inch binder with notebook paper - pencils and/or black pens - optional - USB flash drive (the cheaper the better) The fee for Photography and Communication Design is $15 for the year. Please make checks payable to Grafton High School. Classroom Expectations 1. Please leave food and drinks outside the computer lab and studio. 2. The range for possible points will be: Projects/Tests: 80-100 points Quizzes/Mini Daily Projects: 30-50 points Classwork/Homework: 20-40 points Participation: 5-20 points Projects and daily assignments make up a large percentage of students grades. Projects must be completed in class and student s with excused absences should arrange to stay after school to make up missed work. Points will be deducted for late assignments and students will need to stay after to finish their work. Projects will be turned in using the network Y drive and www.edmodo.com.. More information about edmodo and the features will be given out on a separate sheet. Additional Time Additional classroom time is scheduled for Tuesday thru Thursday from 2:15 3:00 to make up assignments or to receive extra help. Please make plans in advance to stay after. Cheating Policy Students should never turn in Internet images as their own photographs. Students should take their own photographs for at home assignments and should not turn in pictures taken by friends, parents, etc. Using photographs that belong to others will result in a zero for the project grade and will be turned in to administrators for disciplinary action. Equipment Usage Students will sign an equipment use form at the start of the year. Students will be responsible for the proper use and care of any equipment used in and outside the classroom. Digital cameras are not required for this class, but throughout the year students will have photography assignments that will require pictures taken outside of class. Students can check out digital cameras with parent permission. Students must use the computer and all programs for approved classroom assignments only. Games, videos and other entertainment will not be allowed. Students must abide by the AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) and should be aware that any violation will result in disciplinary action and possible loss of computer privileges.
