EN Operatin and installatin manual KNX ENO 636 secure (Art. # 5268) Bidirectinal Gateway with 32 channels between EnOcean and KNX Bus KNX ENO 636 secure Applicatin The KNX ENO 636 is a bidirectinal gateway between EnOcean radi devices and the KNX bus. It transfers cmmands and measured values f EnOcean wireless sensrs t the KNX bus, fr example, t cntrl KNX actuatrs. EnOcean wireless actuatrs can als be cntrlled via KNX. The EnOcean cmmunicatin is based n the EnOcean Equipment Prfiles (EEP). This prfile is usually specified in the data sheet f the EnOcean device. Fr the cntrlling f EnOcean actuatrs crrespnding EEPs are emulated. This means that the gateway sends radi telegrams like a push buttn r a windw cntact. Encrypted cmmunicatin n EnOcean is supprted; encryptin can be enabled fr each sensr r actuatr channel separately. Further infrmatin t the EnOcean Equipment Prfiles can be fund n http://www.encean-alliance.rg. In additin the gateway supprts lgical and cntrl functins and includes radi-repeater functinality. The KNX ENO 636 is divided in 32 channels. Each channel can be assigned t ne f the fllwing functins: Link frm EnOcean sensr t KNX Switch functins Switching Dimming Shutter Scene Valuatr Windw handles Windw cntacts Access card switches Press switches Temperature sensrs Humidity sensrs Light sensrs Presence sensrs Gas sensrs Rm cntrl panels Autmated meter devices Envirnmental sensrs Digital s Link frm KNX t EnOcean actuatr Cntrl / lgic Emulatin f EnOcean switch mdule fr Switching Dimming Shutter Emulatin f EnOcean windw cntact Bidirectinal EnOcean switching, dimming and shutter actuatr Bidirectinal EnOcean HVAC drives fr valves Timer Cntrl Lgical functins Special Switch-n delay Switch-ff delay 2-pint regulatr (byte and flat) Cntinuus regulatr (flat) Heat requisitin Lighting cntrl Gates (e.g. AND, OR, XOR) Inverter Flip-flp (Tggle) Valuatr Trigger Watchdg Filter The cnfiguratin f the device and the channels is perfrmed using the ETS sftware via the KNX Bus. T cnfigure the wireless cmpnents the keys and the display in the device are used. 1. Installatin and cnnectin The munting can be dne n a wall surface (e.g. brick-wrk r wd). The munting hles match thse f a 55 mm flushmunted bx. When chsing the installatin lcatin the RF range f EnOcean devices t be assciated with the gateway has t be cnsidered. Shielding bjects (e.g. metal cabinets) r interfering transmitters (e.g. cmputers, electrnic transfrmers, ballasts) near the gateway shuld be avided. Mre infrmatin n range planning and RF interference can be fund in the data sheets f the devices and n www.encean.cm. 2017 WEINZIERL ENGINEERING GmbH Page 1/19

The cnnectin t the KNX bus is made with a bus cnnectr. The crrect plarity f the terminal referred t the printing inside the unit has t be cnsidered. The device is pwered by the bus, and des nt require an external r additinal pwer supply. The KNX ENO 636 features the fllwing cntrls and displays: ❶ Display ❷ Switch T1 Exit/Del ❸ Switch T2 Activ/Add ❹ Switch T3 KNX Prg. ❺ LED KNX Prg. ❻ KNX bus cnnectr D. The signal strength f received radi telegrams is visualized as a bar at the bttm f the display. If the received telegram crrespnds t ne r mre channels, it will be shwn in a channel matrix n the display. This device is pwered nly by the KNX bus. The device is nt wrking withut KNX bus pwer. A. KNX Prgramming mde The KNX prgramming mde is activated/deactivated by pressing the KNX prgramming buttn T3 ❹. When the prgramming mde is active, the prgramming LED ❺ lights red, this LED blinks red, when the applicatin is nt running, e.g. after a failed ETS dwnlad. A gateway ex-factry has the default individual address 15.15.255. There are n grup addresses and n cnnectins t RF sensrs and actuatrs prgrammed. B. Buttn functins The buttns inside the device are nly needed fr the cmmissining phase and are nt accessible when clsed. Key press T1 lng (Del.): Delete the stred device frm the current channel Key press T1 shrt (Exit): Leave channel/linking mde Key press T2 lng (Add.): Start linking mde Key press T2 shrt (Active): Activate r change the channels 1-32 Key press T3 (KNX Prg. In nrmal peratin, it is nt required and is nt visible when the device is clsed. The main menu shws the device name, the peratin mde (e.g. Running ) and the KNX individual address. When a channel is selected the first line f the display shws the channel number and the text cnfigured in the ETS. In the secnd line the channel type (sensr/actuatr) and assciated EnOcean equipment prfiles (EEP) is shwn. The channel type is displayed n the right edge as a graphical symbl. In the third line, the number f the allcated and available channel links is displayed. If encryptin is enabled fr a channel, the next line shws a lck. The signal strength bar is displayed in the last line. E. Linking t EnOcean devices Befre linking t EnOcean devices, the functins have t be prgrammed fr each channel with the ETS. Per channel typically nly ne EnOcean device can be linked. Fr switches, windw handles and windw cntacts up t fur links per channel are pssible. If the EnOcean device sends encrypted telegrams Channel encryptin has t be enabled fr the selected channel. Fr unidirectinal actuatr channels any number, fr bidirectinal nly ne RF actuatr can be learnt. Encrypted cntrl f actuatr channels is supprted and can be enabled by parameter in the selected channel. Encrypted cmmunicatin in EnOcean uses ne cntinuus independent cunter (Rlling Cde, RLC) in the transmitter and receiver, which is synchrnized in the teach-in in bth devices. If the meter reading f learned transmitter and receiver has a difference greater than 60 then n tele-grams are accepted by this transmitter. In rder t synchrnize the RLC again, it is sufficient if the sender sends the gateway a learning telegram and the gateway des nt have t be put int the learning mde. It shuld be nted that the RLC in the gateway cannt be cunted further if its vltage supply is interrupted. If a learned RPS buttn is pressed mre than 30 times in this state, the buttn and gateway must be synchrnized again by sending a learning telegram. F. Linking mde fr RF sensrs The peratin f the gateway during the teach-in f wireless sensrs is dne using the tw buttns belw the display. If the device is in nrmal mde, the push buttn T2 activates, by shrt key press, the channel mde and changes t the next channel. The display shws the current channel number and the number f cnnected devices. Als the ETS cnfigured text will be shwn fr every channel. With a lng press f T2 n the visible channel, the linking mde is activated. If the device matches the selected functin via the 2017 WEINZIERL ENGINEERING GmbH Page 2/19

parameter cnfiguratin, a transmitting device can be cnnected t the current channel. A cnnectin is created by pressing the learn-buttn f the sensr. Windw handles and switches must be perated fr teach-in because they d nt have a separate learn buttn. T avid that ther transmitting devices are stred by accidental activatin during the prgramming phase, devices can be prgrammed nly after 3-times activatin. Fr this purpse in the general parameters Link switches/handles (RPS) after 3 tel. must be selected. The sensr has t send three telegrams within 10 secnds t be linked. The link mde is terminated by a shrt press f the left key T1, as well as autmatically after 5 minutes withut peratin. Quick guide linking mde fr RF-sensrs 1. T2 shrt press t select the desired channel. 2. T2 lng press t activate the learning mde ("Wait fr ENO..."). 3. Activate the learning mde in the RF-sensr. 4. The sensr is nw prgrammed. G. Deleting links fr RF sensrs Links with RF sensrs can be deleted in several ways. With a lng press n T1 the delete mde is activated fr the current channel. The sensr can nw be deleted frm the visible channel by pressing the learn buttn n the RF sensr. It is als pssible t delete all assignments f the selected channel by pressing T2 ("All"). Fr this, it is nt required t perate the RF sensrs. By prgramming the applicatin prgram via the ETS all prgrammed sensrs f all channels will be deleted, when the "Delete all links after dwnlad" functin in the general parameter is enabled. If the functin f a channel has been changed, prgramming the parameters with ETS deletes the links f the mdified channel. The link mde is terminated by a shrt press f the left key T1, as well as autmatically after 5 minutes withut peratin. Quick guide linking mde fr RF sensrs: 1. T2 shrt press t select the desired channel. 2. T1 lng press t activate the delete mde ("Wait fr ENO r del all links..."). 3. Activate the learning mde at the desired RF sensr t delete. Alternatively: T2 lng press t delete all taught-in RF sensrs frm the selected channel. H. Linking mde fr RF-actuatrs The selectin f the channel during the teach-in f actuatrs is the same as fr teach-in f sensrs, additinally the EnOcean ID f the selected channel is displayed. The teach-in is depending n the emulated sensr type selected: - RPS switch (F6-02-01 / D2-00-03) When emulating an RPS switch, the learning mde in the gateway is activated by pressing T2 lng at the desired channel. The "Select key:" selectin appears in the display. The pressure pint (tp r bttm) f the learning telegram can be selected here with the T2 buttn. Fr sme actuatrs, several pressure pints must be separated separately. Nw the T2 buttn is pressed lng t send up t 3 learning telegrams t the actuatr in the learning mde ("RF" appears briefly in the display). Once this has been dne, the learning mde f the actuatr can be terminated again and the actuatr is taught-in. - 1BS cntact (D5-00-01) The learning mde must first be activated at the actuatr. When emulating a 1BS cntact, the EnOcean telegram fr teach-in is sent by pressing buttn T2 shrt n the desired channel, the display briefly shws "RF". - VLD actuatrs (D2-01-XX) - VLD actuatrs (D2-05-XX) The learning mde must first be activated at the actuatr. When the bi-directinal VLD actuatrs are teached-in, the learning telegram is triggered by a lng buttn press f T2 in the desired channel (a shrt "RF" appears in the display), a successful cnnectin is displayed n the links ("Links 1/1"). Attentin: Sme actuatrs n the market trigger learning frm their side - this is nt supprted by the gateway. - HVAC actuatr fr valve (A5-20-01) - HVAC actuatr fr valve (A5-20-04) The teach-in prcedure fr these bi-directinal devices is initiated by the actuatr. This means that the teach-in prcess is the same as fr a sensr channel. The message "Wait fr ENO..." appears with lng buttn press n buttn T2, then a learning telegram must be triggered at the actuatr. If the teach-in was successful, the display switches back t the channel view. The learning mde is terminated by a shrt press f the left buttn T1, as well as autmatically after 5 minutes withut peratin. I. Deleting links fr RF actuatrs The selectin f the channel when deleting cnnectins t actuatrs is the same as fr teach-in f sensrs. The teach-in is depending n the emulated sensr type: - RPS switch (F6-02-01 / D2-00-03) - 1BS cntact (D5-00-01) The links f these unidirectinal actuatr channels are stred in the respective actuatrs. These can be deleted lcally fr many types n the device withut the gateway. In sme actuatrs it is als pssible t delete individual links by learning telegrams. In this case, the deletin f actuatrs wrks the same way as the teach-in. - VLD actuatrs (D2-01-XX) - VLD actuatrs (D2-05-XX) The learning mde must first be activated at the actuatr. When the cnnectins f these bidirectinal actuatrs are deleted, the learning telegram is triggered by a lng push-buttn press f T2 in the desired channel (a shrt "RF" appears in the display), a successful deletin is indicated n the links ("Links 0/1"). Attentin: Sme actuatrs n the market trigger deleting frm their side, this is nt supprted by the gateway. - HVAC actuatr fr valve (A5-20-01) - HVAC actuatr fr valve (A5-20-04) Here als fr these bi-directinal devices, the teach-in prcedure is initiated by the actuatr: The message "Wait fr ENO..." appears with lng press n buttn T1, then a learning telegram can be triggered at the actuatr r the channel can be erased withut a learning telegram frm the actuatr by shrt press n buttn T2. If the deletin was successful, the display switches back t the channel view. 2017 WEINZIERL ENGINEERING GmbH Page 3/19

2. Nrmal peratin J. RF sensrs When in nrmal peratin mde, each received EnOcean telegram will be cmpared t see if it has been assigned t a channel. If s, the channel is shwn shrtly in a matrix n the LCD display. De-pending n the cnfigured functin there will be ne r mre telegrams sent n the bus. The gateway nly sends telegrams t the KNX bus when a crrespnding EnOcean telegram has been received. If an EnOcean telegram is nt assigned t any channel, nly the signal strength is shwn in the display with a bar. K. RF actuatrs If a channel is set t switch r cntact and the gateway receives a telegram frm the KNX bus, which is assigned t this actuatr channel, a RF tele-gram will be sent fr this channel. If a channel is set t HVAC actuatr, the channel waits fr a request f the actuatrs then it sends the actual values t KNX and EnOcean. Fr the ther actuatr channels, the cmmunicatin is bidirectinal: Each telegram frm KNX r EnOcean triggers a telegram n the ther medium. - Dual EnOcean and KNX bus mnitr (ENO + KNX BUSMON) - EnOcean bus mnitr (ENO BUSMON) - KNX bus mnitr (KNX BUSMON) - EnOcean bus mnitr fr teach-in telegrams (ENO TEACH-IN BUSMON) Lng buttn press f T2 clears all currently displayed telegrams. T return t the main menu f the gateway, the T1 buttn is used. The bus mnitr is autmatically clsed after 5 minutes f inactivity. N. EnOcean bus mnitr If a telegram is received frm an EnOcean device, the signal strength (RSSI) value is shwn in the first psitin f the line. The RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indicatin) is represented by a value between 1 and 4 (1 = min., 4 = best). The first 8 digits f numeric value is the hexadecimal ID f the sending device. The transmitted data is displayed als in hexadecimal cding in the secnd numeric part. If a message is sent by the gateway, it is displayed in the first psitin f the line with an "S". The ID used by the gateway and the transferred data are als shwn. L. Internal links Fr sme use cases it is necessary t link KNX data pints (cmmunicatin bjects) f different channels. Thus, values f sensr channels can be cnnected with s frm cntrl channels. But als wireless sensrs can be cnnected with RF actuatrs. Data pints can be linked in the ETS by assigning the same grup address t an utput and an bject. In this case the values will als be sent t the bus. In cntrast, the internal links are freseen t link cmmunicatin bjects directly withut sending tele-grams via the KNX bus. Fr this purpse n grup addresses have t be assigned in the ETS. Internal links can be created in the parameter dialg f the ETS. In the receiving channel, the cmmunicatin bject number f the utput channel can be selected. The value f the selected bject is cpied internally int the receiving bject and implements the assciated functin. M. Repeater functin The repeater functin is used fr extend distances between sensrs and actuatrs. The KNX ENO 636 is a level-1 radi repeater. This means, that nly tele-grams that cme directly frm a transmitter will be repeated. Telegrams sent by ther repeaters are nt repeated again. Bus mnitr functin The repeater functin f the KNX ENO 636 is activated by the general parameters in the ETS. If the functin is enabled it will be displayed in the main menu f the display left under the individual address. The integrated bus mnitr functin is used fr sys-tem diagnstics directly n the device. The device can display bth EnOcean and s. A shrt press f T1 in menu activates the dual EnOcean and KNX bus mnitr ("ENO+KNX BUSMON"). The last five incming and utging messages are displayed at the bus mnitr. A shrt press f T2 switches between the perating mdes f the bus mnitr: O. KNX bus mnitr The KNX bus mnitr displays the messages at bject level. Therefre, nly grup telegrams are visible which address the gateway r which are sent by it. If a telegram is received frm KNX bus, it will be shwn in the KNX bus mnitr with an "I". Behind it the decimal grup bject number and the data packet will be shwn with up t 4 hexadecimal bytes. If a KNX grup address is assciated with several grup bjects in the gateway, ne line will be shwn fr each link. When sending a message t the KNX bus, an "O" is displayed with the decimal bject number and the data packet in hexadecimal cding. If tw bjects are linked via an internal cnnectin and a telegram is transmitted via this cnnectin, this is indicated with an "M", the decimal bject number f the receiving bject and the data packet in hexadecimal cding. P. EnOcean bus mnitr fr teach-in telegrams In this perating mde nly EnOcean telegrams are displayed which are sent by the device n pressing the learn buttn. By this the supprted EnOcean Equipment Prfile (EEP) f the device can be read directly frm the display. The first 8 digits f numeric value is the hexadecimal ID f the sending device, the next blck shws the received EEP number if it culd be evaluated. When pressing the learn buttn mst EnOcean sensrs send their EEP t prevent linking f the sensr t an incmpatible gateway channel. The cmpatible prfile is written in the parameter sensr type in the ETS database. If an attempt is made t teach a sensr with an EEP that des nt match the channel, the gateway des nt establish the cnnectin. If during the ETS cnfiguratin, the EEP f a channel is changed, the next dwnlad will delete learned sensrs n the channel. During peratin, the gateway frwards the data sent n EnOcean f a linked sensr via ne r mre bjects n KNX. If the EnOcean sensr transmits encrypted telegrams, this must be activated by the parameter "Channel encryptin". 2017 WEINZIERL ENGINEERING GmbH Page 5/19

During deactivatin, the channel des nt react t changes n the bjects f presence and light value, but can be manually verridden. Standby: The channel is in standby n startup and awaits presence, the value frm parameter "Light Set pint tp" is active: If the actual value exceeds the light Set pint tp, an ff telegram and the value frm parameter "Dim value lw" are sent. Autmatic lighting cntrl: This state is activated n receiving presence. The mnitring f the upper threshld is always active in this state. Additinally in perating mde fullautmatic cntrl, ON telegram and the value frm parameter "Dim value high" are sent if the actual value falls belw the lwer threshld.
