1. S#J8612 (Fish/Sea CAY ) Cut (10) strip at 6 5/8 x WOF. If you prefer to FUSSY CUT this fabric, please cut additional strips to ensure that there are enough DIAMONDS. 2. Open the strip so there is only ONE layer (selvage to selvage). 3. Layer TWO together with RIGHT SIDES together. 4. Make first cut at 60 degrees at one of the selvage edges See Example A. 5. Sub cut into (10) 6 5/8 diamond each strip will yield (5) diamonds. 6. Repeat from No. 2 FOUR more times to complete a total of (47) diamonds. 7. Set aside for use later. Step 1 Example A First cut at 60 Cut FIVE Diamonds from each STRIP. Step 2 8. 1895 315 Chameleon Cut (2) strip at 8 3/4 x WOF Sub cut into (47) 8 3/4 x 1 1/4 rectangles. 9. Trim each 1 1/4 edge to a 60 DEGREE angle as shown in Example B. 10. 1895 362 Belize Cut (2) strip at 8 3/4 x WOF Subcut into (47) 8 3/4 x 1 1/4 rectangles. 11. Trim each 1 1/4 edge to a 60 DEGREE angle as previously done. Step 3 12. Layer (1) of the 8 3/4 x 1 1/4 rectangles together with right side together and the Chameleon on top and sew a 1/4" seam on the RIGHT 1 1/4 edge as shown in Example C. 13. Make (39) exactly the same. DO NOT PRESS THE SEAM YET. 14. Label SET 1 and set aside for use later. Step 2 Example B First cut at 60 Second cut at 60 Cut each narrow edge as this will make it easier to sew the blocks together and NO marks will need to be drawn as the seams are your guides. Step 3 Example C 1/4" Seam Line Top layer is Chameleon (Light). Bottom layer is Belize (Dark). Step 4 15. 1895 323 Salmon Cut (2) strips at 9 5/8 x WOF Sub cut into (47) 9 5/8 x 1 1/4 rectangles. 16. Layer (1) Salmon (Red) on top of (1) Election Day (Blue) and sew a 1/4" seam on the RIGHT 1 1/4 edge as done in STEP3. 20. Make (47). DO NOT PRESS SEAM YET. 21. Label SET 2 and set aside for use later. Step 5 22. 1895 292 Cardinal Cut (2) strips at 10 7/8 x WOF Sub cut into (47) 10 7/8 x 1 5/8 rectangles. 23. Trim exactly the same way as done in STEP 2. 24. 1895 123 Lapis Cut (2) strips at 10 7/8 x WOF Sub cut into (47) 10 7/8 x 1 5/8 rectangles. 25. Trim exactly the same way as done in STEP 2. 26. Layer (1) Cardinal (Red) on top of (1) Lapis (Blue) and sew a 1/4" seam on the RIGHT 1 5/8 edge as done in STEP3. 27. Make (47). DO NOT PRESS SEAM YET.

28. Label SET 3 and set aside for use later. Step 6 29. Sort the CAY diamonds into THREE stacks LEFT, RIGHT, and TOP. 30. See picture of the MAIN BLOCK. 31. Keep in mind the directions of the fabric when placing into the stacks. 32. There will be (15) for the LEFT, (15) for the RIGHT, and (17) for the TOP. 33. When sewing the outer strips to each diamond it is best to keep them in the appropriate stack and sew one stack at a time. This will allow for less confusion. Step 7 Left Block Make (15) See Example A 34. Using SET 1 sew the LIGHT Green to the top edge. 35. Fold the DARK Green out of the way and do not sew past the seam. 36.
