Mother s Day Crafts for Kids - Instructions Safety Tips: Keep scissors out of reach of children. Keep all glue caps, marker caps and other small items out of reach of children age 3 or under, as they are a choking hazard. Use nontoxic washable markers. Watch young children when they are using crayons, to be sure they don't put them in their mouths. Have an emergency plan in place in case of injury, ie. First Aid procedures Photo Supplies Instructions Puzzles bw or color My Moms craft page Puzzle templates (optional) Copy paper Cardstock Scissors (for adult only) People-colored*, glitter, neon or regular crayons Envelopes Restickable glue (optional) Ethnic Mother s Day Puzzles - For age 3+. Kid s Activity: Prep: Print templates and color-illustrated puzzles. Place restickable glue on back of puzzles, allow to dry. Cut apart pieces. Give each child a template. Show them how the pieces fit on the template and fit together to make the picture. Puzzle Mother s Day Gift: Prep: Print bw puzzles and craft page. Make copies of puzzles onto card- stock. Make copies of My Mom page onto copy paper. Cut out mom pics. Let kids pick 1 puzzle that looks like themselves and their mom, and the corresponding mom pic. Craft: Kids color puzzles/pics. Place restickable glue on the back of the puzzles. Allow to dry. Cut off edge of puzzles, and cut apart pieces for kids. Place pieces in an envelope. Kids glue the little mom picture on the outside of the envelope, and write Mom on it. Photo Supplies Instructions Mother s Day Coloring Pages 1-4 Card stock or Copy Paper People Colored Crayons Crayons or Markers Optional: Disappearing purple glue sticks Construction Paper Glitter crayons Glitter Yarn Mother s Day Ethnic Craft Age 2+ Prep: Print crafts page, and make copies onto copy paper or card stock. Craft: Children color craft pages with regular and peoplecolored crayons, glitter crayons, or markers. Ideas to make it into a Textured Craft: 1 -Put glue on the hearts or mom s shirt and sprinkle glitter on them (Sprinkle over a tray to catch extra glitter, and shake paper upside down to get rid of excess). You could 2 - Glue small lengths of yarn onto hair. 3. Cut hearts (to fit over the hearts on the page) out of construction paper and glue those on top. Make copies onto copy paper. Cut apart mom pictures and booklet pages. Fold foam sheet over craft pages (with My Mom page on top) and staple into booklets. Craft: Kids color mom pictures and glue to the front. Help kids fill in the blanks to describe their moms and sign their names. Place tape on backs of staples so kids don t get scratched.

Many Hats Card p1 Many Hats Card p2 Hats Stickers Copy paper Copy paper, colors OR patterned craft paper, fabric OR construction paper Markers Scissors (for adult only) Crayons People Colored Crayons* Envelopes Restickable glue Ideas for roles: Seamstress, wardrobe stylist, organizer, teacher, home decorator, doctor, craft designer, florist, story-reader, cookie baker, etc. Ethnic Mother s Day Hats Card: For age 2+. Prep: Print all craft pages. Make copies of card pages onto copy paper. Make copies of hat stickers onto colored copy paper OR use the hats as patterns to make textured hat shapes out of patterned craft paper, fabric, or construction paper: Cut out hats, lay on paper or fabric, trace and cut out textured hats. Craft: Child colors card pages and picks the hats that are appropriate for their mom and colors them. Help child write some roles (that their mom fills) on the blank hats or textured hats. Apply restickable or regular glue on back of hats. Stick to front or inside of card. Help kids write their name with s on the end, on the top part of the hat that the mom is wearing on page 2. Ex, Timmy s mom. Help kids write a Mother s Day message and glue the back of page 1 to back of page 2, matching edges. You can also cut strips of construction paper and glue it on edges of for a border. Kids pick a poem or write something of their own, and sign their cards.

You can also reduce the size when printing to put on smaller items. Iron-on pages, color OR Iron-on pages, black-and-white Inkjet Iron-on Sheets White or light colors kids t- shirts Scissors (for adult only) For black-and-white Iron-ons: Non-toxic Fabric Crayons. Note: Do a test first on a piece of scrap fabric, to make sure your brand of fabric crayons works with your brand of ironons. Fabric markers have not been tried. Please make sure they are non-toxic if you try them. Color-Your-Own Ethnic T-shirts: How to Use: These iron-ons are for kids t-shirts, as they say My mom is the best mom in the whole world. They would make great gifts for a babysitter, dad, older sibling, teacher or a friend to make for young children. Kids will have fun coloring them. The ironing part is for adults only because of safety issues, but you can take the completed black-andwhite t-shirts in to your class for kids to color. Prep: Print and make copies of T-shirt Iron-ons onto Inkjet Iron-on sheets. Follow instructions for ironing that comes with the sheets. Craft: Kids color the pictures with fabric crayons. Photo Supplies Instructions Mini-posters Card stock Optional: Puff paint Glitter glue Ideas for Ethnic / Multicultural Posters For Older children or teachers: Prep: Print and make copies of Mini-posters onto cardstock.
