Term 2 Newsletter 2017 Beginner s Patchwork with Elissa: Make a Simple Quilt Elissa will be running a beginner s patchwork class where you will learn how to make this delightfully simple quilt! She will help you with fabric choices and over the 4 weeks, will teach you how to construct the quilt, attach the binding and hand quilt. This quilt is fun and easy to construct. inspired by others creativity. Learn a new skill and be Classes held every Wednesday for 4 weeks, running from Wednesday 17th May 2017 through to Wednesday 7th June 2017. This class will start at 9:45am and finish at 12:00pm. The cost is $120.00 and includes tuition and morning tea. Beginners Knitting with Kate. Come along and learn the basics of knitting from Canadian Kate! Learn how to cast on and cast off, cable stitch, moss stitch and much more. After this class, the world of knitting is your Oyster! This class will be held every Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00pm, running from the 10th May through to the 28th May 2017. The cost of this class is $25.00 and includes tuition and afternoon tea. This class books out quickly so make sure you call to secure a spot. Knitting Skills Class with Kate: Socks This term, Canadian Kate will be running some specialist classes concentrating on specific knitting skills. Kate will take you through knitting socks, from cast-on, shaping the heel and finishing with the toe! This workshop will be run over 3 weeks from Tuesday the 16th to Tuesday the 30th May 2017. The class will commence at 12:30pm and finish at 2:30pm at a cost of $90 and includes tuition and afternoon tea. There is a limit for attendance for this class.
Knitting Skills Class with Kate: Brioche Stitch. Stephen West from BestKnits is making this stitch famous again! Come and learn how to knit this fabulous stitch. Brioche stitch is a reversible pattern that creates an amazing loft and squishiness! This is a class not to miss! Canadian Kate will be running this skills workshop over two weeks, from Tuesday the 6th June and Tuesday the 13th June 2017. The class will commence at 12:30pm and finish at 2:30pm and will cost $60.00 for the two weeks. Class includes tuition and afternoon tea. Lace Knitting Classes with Sharon Bartsch. Our favourite lace knitting expert, Sharon Bartsch is back in town and we are delighted! She will be running three separate lace knitting classes on patterns designed by Dee O Keefe. The classes will run over two nights and have been separated by 3-5 days to give you some time to knit by yourself after learning the lace techniques on the first night. The second class is intended to clear up any issues that pop up while knitting by yourself and builds on additional skills. In addition to this, Sharon will be available in store on Saturday the 13th for afternoon tea so you can come to the store for more advice. You can follow Sharon on Instagram @adelaideding. Introduction to Lace. Don't be put off by how intricate knitted lace appears, if you know how to knit, purl, cast on and bind off, then come to this workshop to discover how to knit lace! This workshop is designed for knitters who have never worked with lace before. Sharon will take you through a range of different lace stitches, which will make up a variety of different panels within the scarf. Knitted in Malabrigo Lace, this scarf is light and warm! The Ashton Shawlette. This workshop is designed for knitters who wish to make up a smaller shawl. This shawlette is gorgeous and makes a beautiful neck shawl! The Ashton can easily be increased to become a shawl if you love the pattern and want a larger garment. This class is run over two nights, Thursday 11th May with a follow up class on Tuesday the 16th May 2017, from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. The cost for two nights is $90.00 including class tuition, Pattern and The Elizabeth Shawl. This workshop is designed for knitters who wish to use their knitting skills to create a stunning and stylish shawl. It is hard to capture the beauty of this shawl in a photograph, but it is truly amazing. A sample of this shawl is in our store. This workshop will be held on Friday the 12th May with a follow up class on Wednesday the 17th May 2017, from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. The cost for two nights is $90.00 including class tuition, pattern and Beginner s Crochet. Come and join the Crochet Revolution and learn how to crochet with our talented teacher, Marnie. Marnie will guide you through needle and yarn selection, then teach you the stitches so you can begin your very first Granny Rug. Crochet classes will begin on Saturday the 20th May 2017 for 3 weeks from 12:45pm to 3:15pm at a cost of $120. Class includes tuition and afternoon tea. You will love this!
Quilt making with Sandra Boyle. We are seriously delighted to be able to have Sandra from Everyday Quilts here in Perth for two amazing days, Saturday the 24th June and Sunday the 25th June. Sandra is a Melbourne based quilt maker who has taught at Amitie, Treehouse Textiles and The Cutting Cloth. She is an extremely talented quilt maker and is an expert at hand piecing and applique. Being a scrappy quilter, Sandra uses her fabric stash to make visually stunning quilts. Some of her quilts include Hopscotch, Peony Medallion, Brocante and Vintage Stars just to name a few. You can follow Sandra on Instagram @everyday_quilts. Both classes will focus on her Carousel quilt, which is a quilt of many dimensions using different techniques. Its a great way to use up that stash of yours! Both classes will be held in store from 10am to 4pm and cost $120.00 each. lunch and afternoon tea. Fantales Quilt with Josie. Josie will be running two evening classes on Michelle McKillops Fantales quilt. This quilt is another beauty to use your scraps up with and is hand piece. Kaffe Fasset & Anna Maria Horner fabrics provide great colour for this quilt! This class will be held over two evenings on Monday 22nd May and 29th May 2017, running from 6pm to 8:30pm. Cost for this class is $70 and includes tuition, pattern and Pop-up Classes. Over this term, we will be running some pop-up classes, so keep an eye on our Instagram page and the Blackboard in our store.
