MEDICI ARTIST LOFTS An affordable housing project by DFA dev. 34 units - 7ea 3 bed, 7ea bed & 0ea bed The proposed, 34 unit, affordable housing and et rate project is located at the intersection of N Sutter St and E Miner Ave in Stockton, CA. The existing building known as the MEDICO building is in serviceable condition and are well suited for adaptive re-use. The adaptive re-use method of development carries the smallest carbon foot print and can be considered the greenest construction method. This also allows for a way to preserve the history of the city with the conservation of the original, historical, exterior. The method also sets a good example for the future re-development of downtown Stockton. The location embraces pedestrian access to the nearby restaurants and entertainment district with parks and the water front within 5 minute walking distance. The interior architectural intent is inspired by the original turn-of-the-century elements found throughout the building and boosts open floor plan design, capitalizing on the breath taking views of the delta and surrounding city.
