ABOUT MY DESIGN CENTER ABOUT MY DESIGN CENTER With My Design Center, you cn use the functions listed elow: Hnd-drwn functions - creting emroidery ptterns y drwing on the LCD screen Scnning functions - creting emroidery ptterns y not only scnning oject with uilt-in cmer, ut lso imported dt from USB medi, SD crd or computer. You cn lso comine ptterns tht you hve creted with the mchine s uilt-in ptterns. Strting My Design Center for the First Time 2. Instll the needle plte cover included with the mchine. My Design Center will e ctivted once the scnning frme hs een ttched. After the initil ctivtion is complete, you no longer hve to ttch the scnning frme. View the tutoril video tht shows how to use My Design Center. Memo This is required only for the first time tht My Design Center is used. After the first time, My Design Center will e ville even if the scnning frme is not ttched. In order to use My Design Center fter upgrding the mchine, ttch the scnning frme to enle My Design Center. Attching the Scnning Frme 1. Remove the two thum screws securing the emroidery frme holder, nd then remove the frme holder from the mchine. Needle plte cover Memo For est scnning results, e sure to instll the needle plte cover. 3. Align the holes in the scnning frme with the pins on the frme-mounting plte of the crrige. ABOUT MY DESIGN CENTER The My Design Center icon ppers in the home screen. Bsics: Creting Pttern Strt My Design Center y pressing home pge screen. in the CAUTION Only touch the screen with your finger or the pen (stylus) included with the mchine. Do not use mechnicl pencil, screwdriver or ny other hrd or shrp oject. In ddition, do not press the screen with extreme pressure. Otherwise the screen my e dmged. All or prt of the screen my sometimes ecome drker or lighter due to chnges in the surrounding temperture or other chnges in the environment. This is not sign of mlfunction. If the screen is difficult to red, djust its rightness. 1. Drw line drwing in the pttern drwing screen. (pge 8) 2. Adding color to the pttern. 4

ABOUT MY DESIGN CENTER 3. Select colors, fill stitches nd desired ptterns to complete your design. 5. Convert imge dt to emroidery dt. The emroidery imge preview screen ppers. (pge 17) 4. Specify stitch settings. (pge 15) * Further customize your pttern y specifying emroidery stitch settings, such s stin stitch width nd density. 6. Edit the pttern in the emroidery edit screen, for exmple, y comining it with the mchine s uilt-in ptterns. * For detils on how to edit the pttern, refer to Editing the Emroidery Pttern (Pttern Editing Screen) in the Opertion Mnul. The pttern you drew my e igger thn you expected. Plese resize the pttern fter converting the design to the emroidery pttern. When the pttern is enlrged so tht only prt of it ppers in the pttern drwing re, the entire pttern is displyed in the pttern preview re. The red frme in the pttern preview re indictes the prt of the pttern displyed in the pttern drwing re. Move the red frme in the pttern preview re with the touch pen or your finger to disply the corresponding re in the pttern drwing re. 6

You cn select the rush type, fill type nd color s you need. Pinted lines nd res will e converted to the pttern emroidered with fill stitch. Press to pick up the color from region in the pttern within the pttern drwing re. The picked up color is shown s the currently selected region color eside the utton nd s the selected color in the Region Property screen. v Line tool key Drw lines nd set the color. You cn select the line type, stitch type nd color s you need. Press to pick up the color from line in the pttern within the pttern drwing re. The picked up color is shown s the currently selected line color eside the utton nd s the selected color in the Line Property screen. 10 8 7

PATTERN DRAWING SCREEN Before Creting Designs Drwing Lines Select the centerpoint mrker or grid lines setting for Frme Disply to pply the frme disply to the pttern drwing re of My Design Center. For detils on the types of emroidery frmes nd grids ville, refer to Chnging the disply guides in the Opertion Mnul included with the mchine. Press nd drw lines. Attch the frme to e used. Memo The frme type cnnot e chnged in the settings screen. Press. c Select the grid line of the Frme Disply. Memo When is pressed, ll regions will e displyed in the ckground to clrify the drwing lines on the screen. Grid types * Select the grid size 10 mm (3/8 inch) or 25 mm (1 inch). 8

You cn lso specify the line types, stitch types nd colors efore drwing lines. Press to set the line types, stitch types nd colors. Stitch types Zigzg stitch Running stitch Triple stitch Cndlewicking stitch Chin stitch Line without stitch for creting region. Creted region will e defined y the gry line. Press to return to the pttern drwing screen. The color r on the line tool key is chnged to the selected color. * The ppernce of the line does not chnge even if the line type ws chnged. The specified line type cn e checked in the stitch settings screen. Freehnd line closing the end utomticlly. Stright line with one stroke Stright line chnging directions to the point you select. Drwing Regions Press nd drw with rush. Press, nd then select color within the pttern drwing re to pply the sme color to other lines or prts of the pttern. You cn lso set the fill color, stitch type nd fill pttern of closed re mde of the lines nd rush lines. Press for chnging the fill color, nd then select the pttern to e chnged. 11

If more thn six shpes re registered, the oldest one is utomticlly ersed. For detils on registering stmp shpe, refer to Decortive stitching round pttern in emroidery ( quilting function) on pge 33. Frme emroidering res Select n emroidering re in order to rrnge the pttern to fit n emroidery frme. The pttern drwing screen is displyed. * You cn chnge size of, rotte or move the shpe right fter you crete it y pressing or. 12

Select the size nd shpe of the erser. * If the selected key will e used, press. The pttern drwing screen is displyed. Select the re you wnt to edit. * To select n re you wnt to edit, hold the stylus t point on the screen nd drg the stylus to crete the red ox round your selected re to e edited. c Drg long the re or line tht you wnt to erse while the key ppers s. 13

PATTERN DRAWING SCREEN c When is pressed, the pttern size is displyed in the screen. Shows the size for the selected the prt. Reverts to the originl size. d When is pressed, the pttern rottion ngle is displyed in the screen. c e c Shows the ngle for the selected prt. Edit the design with ville keys. (See Key functions on pge 7 for the detils of ech key function.) f Press setting., nd then specify the stitch 14

STITCH SETTINGS SCREEN STITCH SETTINGS SCREEN Before creting the emroidery pttern, specify the stitch settings. Lines of the design re sewn with vrious stitches nd res re sewn with fill stitches or stippling stitches. Stitching of the res ws lredy selected in Drwing Regions on pge 10, so specify vlues of detiled settings. After specifying the settings, press to crete the emroidery pttern. If the design dt is sved, the settings cn e chnged fter tril emroidering. Specifying individul stitch settings Select pttern in the stitch settings screen to specify its line nd region stitch settings. If multiple ptterns re selected, the settings re pplied to those ptterns. Cndlewicking Stitch Size Spcing Chin stitch Size Increses/reduces the size of the pttern. Specifies the spcing of the cndlewicking stitch. Increses/reduces the size of the pttern. Line settings Repetition Sets repeted sewing t the sme prt. Region settings Shows the stitch type nd color for the selected line. Shows the stitch settings for the selected line. Line sew stitch settings Select the type of stitching you wnt pplied to your line rt, from zigzg stitch ( ), running stitch ( ), triple stitch ( ), cndlewicking stitch or chin stitch. Zigzg stitch Shows the stitch type nd color for the selected region. Shows the stitch settings for the selected region. Fill stitch settings Direction Density Specifies the sewing direction. Select Mnul to chnge to the desired direction of fill stitch. Specifies the stitch density of fill stitch. Zigzg width Density Specifies the width of the zigzg stitches used to sew the lines of the design. Specifies the density of the zigzg stitches used to sew the lines of the design. Running stitch /Triple stitch * Both includes n under sewing. Pull compenstion Under sewing Specifies to correct the shrinkge of the pttern y slightly shortening or lengthening the stitching. Chnge the setting fter you emroider the pttern nd cn check the shrinkge. Select if you need or do not need the under sewing for the stilized fric. Run pitch Specifies the length of the stright stitch of the design. 15

STITCH SETTINGS SCREEN Stippling stitch settings Run pitch Spcing Distnce Specifies the length of stitch of the stippling stitch. Specifies the spcing etween the stitches when emroidering the stippling stitch. Specifies the offset from the pttern outline. Specifying glol stitch settings The sme stitch settings cn e chnged t the sme time for multiple ptterns of the sme type. Use to select the stitch whose settings re to e chnged, nd then press. Decortive fill Size Direction Outline Use chnged. Increses/reduces the size of the pttern. Specifies the rottion ngle of the pttern. Select whether (ON) or (OFF) the outline is lso converted to emroidery dt. If ON is selected, the numer of thred jumps cn e reduced. to select the line or region to e Ech press of moves the highlighting of the selected pttern in order. Select the setting to e chnged, nd then chnge the setting in the screen tht ppers. (In this exmple, the sewing direction will e chnged.) The sme stitch type res will e selected t the sme time. The setting screen ppers. c Press, nd then use to chnge the direction. Follow steps through d in Specifying individul stitch settings on pge 15 to chnge the settings. EMBROIDERY IMAGE PREVIEW SCREEN EMBROIDERY IMAGE PREVIEW SCREEN You cn check the totl stitch numer, emroidery time nd spool thred color numer to emroider the pttern. Press to check the pttern imge within the emroidery frme. Press to proceed to the emroidery edit screen. Note Once you proceed to the emroidery edit screen, you cnnot return to the My Design Center. Press Press to sve the pttern s the emroidering dt. to return to the stitch settings screen. 17

CAUTION To void hving the emroidery foot strike the frme during the scnning process nd possily cusing injury, check the following: the thickness of the fric or pper, creses or folds in the fric or pper tht my e rolled up too close to the frme. Memo Only one sheet of pper cn e plced in the scnning frme per scn. Position the pper to e scnned so tht it is ligned with the lower-left corner, securing the pper in plce with the mgnets. Memo If you wnt to scn n imge from smll piece of pper tht cn't e held with the mgnets, copy tht imge onto lrger piece of pper, to then e plced on the scnning frme. Note When plcing the pper in the scnning frme, mke sure tht the white lnce re is not hidden; otherwise, the drwing cnnot e scnned correctly. At the sme time, e sure to plce the scn imge within the scn re. The imge out of the scn re will not e scnned. * Plce the mgnets t six loctions round the pper to secure it, mking sure tht the line drwing is not covered. Note The scnning re is 300 mm x 200 mm (pprox. 11-3/4 inches x 7-7/8 inches). There re scn re mrks with the frme. Mke sure tht the pper is plced within the mrk. If the pper is plced unevenly, the imge cnnot e scnned correctly. If the scnning frme is dirty, wipe it with cloth dmpened with diluted neutrl detergent solution. 18

LINE SCAN LINE SCAN Custom ptterns cn e creted from drwings. You cn crete ptterns y scnning your drwings using the included scnning frme or importing n imge from USB medi, computer or SD crd. Using the Scnning Frme to Crete Pttern with Line Scn Press. Recommended line drwings for Line Scn Line drwings must e drwn clerly using lines with pproximtely 1 mm thickness. Line drwings should e drwn in strong contrst. If the lines re too short or gthered too densely, they will not e scnned correctly. Note For detils on creting ptterns using color illustrtions, refer to ILLUSTRATION SCAN on pge 24. If you cnnot scn the drwings s expected, you cn edit the design in the My Design Center. Refer to PATTERN DRAWING SCREEN on pge 6. Line drwings re scnned without recognizing the thickness of lines. If you wnt to chnge the thickness of lines, specify in the Settings screen.
